Many people were already waiting there for the meeting to begin, but Hu Ma insisted on waiting anyway.
He simply stood quietly beside the taxi, watching the little girl who had just been secretly wiping away her tears break into a cheerful smile. She helped her grandmother, who still had no idea what had happened, back upstairs.
She rolled up her sleeves and cooked a meal with her grandmother, then stayed up late talking with her. Only after her grandmother had fallen asleep did she push open the window and slip out from the sixth floor.
She had recovered her memories, but they weren't nearly as useful as they had been in the other world. Besides, she hadn't been all that capable to begin with.
But here, that was more than enough. Her figure vanished into the drizzle that had begun to fall again. The honking cars on the road drowned out a girl's uninhibited laughter.
Half an hour later, she appeared in a bar. She slowly wiped her sweat- and drizzle-soaked hair back from her face, smiled, and made her way forward.
"Dong..."
When her classmates, huddled in a corner booth and drinking with a few local big shots, saw her, their eyes lit up. They rubbed their eyes, realized it really was her, then hurriedly called to her and waved.
"You actually came..."
"Heehee, we thought you wouldn't dare!"
The girls could hardly believe their eyes. How had this painfully meek girl dared to come here?
"You said some big shot was into me. How could I not come?"
Sweet Potato Shochu walked over with a giggle. She looked at the big shot with his arm around one of the girls, frowned, and kicked at him. "Move over. You even know how to have fun?"
"I'm taking over!"
