Chai Xiao first meets Xu Tui outside his dorm after An Xiaoxue’s visit. Mistaking the situation for a secret rendezvous, he repeatedly seeks inside information until Xu Tui challenges him to dodge the Bean Flicking Divine Ability. Chai Xiao dodges the first shot but is hit by a second soybean from Xu Tui’s left hand, injuring his front tooth and losing the wager 33 34.

He subsequently escorts Xu Tui through freshman testing, explains Merit Points and authority, and reacts with growing envy as Xu Tui’s assessment rises beyond Chai Xiao’s expectations 34 35 37 41.

Yuan Shu Conflict

When Xu Tui’s fight with Yuan Shu attracts a massive crowd, Chai Xiao warns him of the possible legal and disciplinary consequences. He then personally attempts to negotiate a settlement with Yuan Shu, who rejects Chai Xiao’s mediation and demands that Xu Tui apologize and pay compensation 39 40.
