Background

Ye Ziyun is the daughter of Ye Zong, the City Lord of Radiance. Before meeting Xian He, she longed for the freedom to fly like the clouds rather than remain confined to cultivation at the City Lord's mansion 72. She later requested admission to Sacred Orchid Academy, both to develop herself and to seek the potential guidance of Ancestor Ye Yan; Ye Zong approved her request immediately 93.

She first met Xian He after he sparred Ye Zong to a draw. Concerned for her father, she came to the training ground, where Xian He defended her from Ye Zong's reprimand. His advice about balancing cultivation and exercise was misunderstood by Ye Zong, however, resulting in two additional hours of weighted running each morning and earning Xian He her resentment 73.

At Sacred Orchid Academy, Ye Ziyun attempted to befriend Xiao Ninger and later became comfortable spending time with both Ninger and Xian He 99 100. During the expedition to the Ancient Orchid City Ruins, she chose Black Gold Grade Demonic Crystals for their potential use in equipment crafting and learned to store and summon the sword Li Li Qian Shi through her Soul Sea 122 123.

After Xian He secured Ye Zong's approval, Ye Ziyun married him. Several years spent in the Inner World had allowed her to grow into adulthood before the wedding. She subsequently received Xian He's transferred power and qi and later gave birth to their daughter, whose green Soul Sea granted Xian He a corresponding green Soul Sea 146.

She is kind and socially considerate, taking the initiative to greet Xiao Ninger and allowing Huyan Lanruo to join the expedition's rickshaw despite their lack of closeness 99 113. Her kindness has limits: she openly defended Xiao Ninger from Shen Xiu's accusations, publicly rejected Shen Yue's claim that she was his fiancée, and kicked him when he approached her too familiarly 102 112.

Ye Ziyun can be jealous and stubborn, particularly concerning Xian He's interactions with Huyan Lanruo. She resented Huyan's forward advances and reacted sharply when Xian He treated her affectionately 118.
