From a gaming perspective, Don Freecss's death was a hidden side quest.
If the following conditions were met, Don would overcome the "Flesh Curse" at the end of his life and die as a human.
First, take certain actions and earn Don's trust.
Second, enter the West Shore with Don, then part ways and not see each other again until now.
Third, before Don made his decision, kill at least one of the West Shore's "God's Apostles" and strengthen his resolve.
If even one of these conditions wasn't met, Don would have become the third target of Gelman and Ging's "God's Apostles" here.
They would have been forced to kill each other.
It was an outcome none of the three wanted to see.
Gelman and Ging gathered Don's bones, dug a deep hole on the spot, and buried them there. Then they erected a simple stone marker and carved "Don Freecss's Grave" into it.
The two stood in silence beside the grave for a long while. Only then did Gelman turn and walk toward the Ritual Stone Array.
First, he planted a Lantern on the spot, setting this as the fourteenth Teleportation Point. Only then did he draw the "Sacred Moonlight Greatsword."
Holding the greatsword, Gelman slowly walked to the center of the Ritual Stone Array, pointed its tip downward, and stabbed hard!
Boom—
A humming green light spread out, and the Ritual Stone Array shattered into countless pieces, never to regain its former shape.
With that, all three Ritual Stone Arrays had been destroyed.
The map Don had left in Gelman and Ging's minds vanished completely, but they had both already memorized the rough direction of the route ahead, so they no longer needed it.
They left the narrow, dark passage of flesh and emerged into the crimson world
