The Flying Thunder God Technique's first step involved leaving a formula on an object, then teleporting to the vicinity of that stationary object.

Shiyu mastered the first step with ease, but it had a major weakness: it was easy for others to spot the formula.

The second step involved throwing a specially made kunai marked with the Flying Thunder God Formula during battle, putting pressure on the enemy and threatening them, then suddenly appearing right above them.

Then he could launch a two-stage attack from above, using a shuriken or simply the Rasengan.

"It seems the second step lets you put the formula on a moving object and strike a second time."

The second step didn't seem much harder than the first, and there was no real difference between them. Still, it put tremendous pressure on the enemy. Even Obito, the Masked Man, had once been injured by Minato using the second step.

Since Shiyu could use the Rasengan with one hand, he could use the second step of the Flying Thunder God Technique with ease.

"This technique is great, but once the enemy figures out your fighting style and rhythm, they might see through it easily. Put simply, if the enemy knows you can teleport and prepares to attack the spot you'll appear in, how will you counter them?"

"How can I keep control of the rhythm of a fight?" Shiyu had realized the weakness of the Flying Thunder God Technique, so he decided to keep developing it.

Then an idea suddenly struck him.

"How could I forget the Shadow Clone Jutsu? If the first step of the Flying Thunder God Technique leaves the formula on a stationary object, and the second step leaves it on a moving one, could the third step involve leaving a spatial formula on a Shadow Clone?"

"If a Shadow Clone bearing the formula can move, I could use the Flying Thunder God Technique to appear beside different clones in an instant. Even if the enemy knows I can teleport, they won't know where I'll appear!"

"And what if the Shadow Clones could use the Flying Thunder God Technique, too? Just thinking about it is terrifying! The enemy wouldn't be able to tell which one was my real body, and they'd be under immense threat. This would be the nightmare of the Shinobi World! I'm a genius!"

The Second Hokage, who invented the Flying Thunder God Technique, knew how to use Shadow Clones. Leaving a formula on a Shadow Clone wasn't any harder than leaving one on a person's body, since a Shadow Clone was a physical form created with chakra.

"Teleporting to the vicinity of a Shadow Clone should be no problem. But what if I want the Shadow Clone to use the Flying Thunder God Technique?" Shiyu thought it over, then began experimenting.

Shiyu placed a spatial formula on himself, then had a Shadow Clone use the Flying Thunder God Technique to reach him. But when the clone forced itself to use the technique, it mysteriously vanished.

"I see. Is it harder for a Shadow Clone to sense spatial fluctuations than it is for the real body?" Shiyu had hit a roadblock as soon as he started developing the third step, but he had found a promising direction.

"Still, even if the Shadow Clone can't use the Flying Thunder God Technique yet, it can use the Body Flicker Technique and throw a kunai marked with a special formula to the place I want to teleport to. That's basically an upgraded version of the second step."

"I should give it a name! Hmm, how about Flying Thunder God Technique: Two-Step Combo!" Shiyu's name wasn't particularly good, but it was much better than the names Minato Namikaze came up with.

After finishing his research on the Flying Thunder God Technique, Shiyu continued working on the Rasengan.

First, Shiyu had an enormous amount of chakra, so he increased its output while maintaining the Rasengan.

"The Rasengan seems bigger, but it's also harder to control." Only then did Shiyu realize that the more chakra he put into the Rasengan, the harder it was to control.

The Rasengan grew larger and larger, eventually becoming a Great Ball Rasengan. The room was too small, and Shiyu's body was still too little to practice the Super Great Ball Rasengan, so he gave up trying it for now. The underlying principle was much the same, though.

The Great Ball Rasengan was more powerful, but Shiyu couldn't yet unleash it instantly like he could with the regular Rasengan.

Shiyu had also considered infusing it with chakra of another nature to change its properties. But it was too dangerous, and he didn't yet have the courage to try.

During a break in his training, Shiyu received another invitation from the Anbu.

"Lord Third wants to see me again? All right. Show me the way." Shiyu followed the Anbu to the Hokage's office in front of the Hokage Rock, where he once again met the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"Shiyu, Hizashi said you performed very well on your last mission. I heard you can use Compound Ninjutsu proficiently now. Is that true?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked warmly.
