Background / History
Origin and divided identity
Gu Yue and Gu Yuena are two aspects of the same Silver Dragon King: Gu Yue represents divinity, while Gu Yuena represents humanity. They share memories and a common past, but their differing choices produce distinct personalities. The original, undivided Silver Dragon King is described as an innocent, curious silver-haired maiden burdened by her race’s mission 233.
Gu Yue presents herself as the main body that discarded humanity to shoulder the Soul Beast race’s revival. However, she also argues that Gu Yuena was the original core consciousness and separated pure divinity from herself to escape that responsibility. Gu Yuena challenges this account, accusing Gu Yue of claiming main-body authority when convenient and shifting blame when seeking affection 5 56 81 87.
Previous life
Gu Yue led the Soul Beast army against Heaven Dou City and was responsible for the destruction of the Su Family, including Su Ling’s mother. Su Ling later identifies Gu Yue’s orders as the source of his mother’s death, while distinguishing Gu Yuena from direct responsibility 60 253.
She married Shengyan, Su Ling’s previous-life identity, but he pierced her chest on their wedding night. Su Ling subsequently describes that marriage as part of his revenge, although he cannot clearly judge how much genuine feeling it contained 5 173 254.
After her death, her Dragon Soul Obsession lingered in the Lake of Life for ten thousand years. Her hatred encompasses not only Su Ling but everyone connected to him, whom she threatens to punish across generations 45.
Exile of her humanity
Gu Yue separates Gu Yuena from herself and sends her into the human world. Her assigned mission is to reach the God Realm and then merge with Gu Yue, enabling a breakthrough to the God King Realm and securing a place for Soul Beasts there 5.
Gu Yuena objects to being treated as a disposable instrument. Nevertheless, Gu Yue uses Space Element to send her away; the human incarnation subsequently falls into the hands of traffickers 5.
Appearance
Gu Yue’s main body takes the form of either an enormous silver dragon or a tall, silver-haired woman with an aloof, sacred bearing 5 22 172.
- Dragon form: Silver-white scales, purple gemstone-like eyes, and a body hundreds of zhang long. Her wings blot out the sky when she rises from the Lake of Life 5 22.
- Adult humanoid form: Cascading silver hair, usually purple eyes, and a height of 1.8 meters 5 255.
- Shared vessel: When controlling Gu Yuena’s body, she can retain its juvenile appearance. A colder gaze and restrained demeanor may replace Gu Yuena’s usual liveliness without an obvious physical transformation 81.
- Dragon tail: Visible while impersonating Gu Yuena; she uses it to hold Su Ling close 253 254.
- Temporarily reunited form: Ankle-length silver hair, violet eyes bearing flowing silver patterns, and a silver gown embroidered with dark dragon motifs 236.
Personality
Gu Yue initially treats emotion as an obstacle to responsibility. She displays little sympathy toward Gu Yuena and expects her to fulfill a dangerous mission for the Soul Beast race. Even after learning of the human incarnation’s impending auction, she forbids intervention and threatens disobedient Soul Beasts with death 5 22.
Her attachment to Su Ling repeatedly overturns that disciplined façade. Jealousy of Gu Yuena’s place in his affections drives her to abandon considerations of racial revival and divine attention, possess the shared vessel, and pursue him. She regards both his love and his hatred as things that should belong exclusively to her 38 39.
Cruelty and protectiveness coexist in her behavior. She claims that only she may kill Su Ling, yet instinctively shields him from danger and repairs his body despite his rejection. Her concern does not resolve their conflict: she also threatens his family and Heaven Dou City to force him into marriage 40 132 134 174.
Later, she imitates Gu Yuena’s dependence to receive tenderness that Su Ling denies her openly. Beneath this deception is a pronounced fear of abandonment; in adult form, she pleads not to become an unwanted “stray Dragon” 170 246 253 255.

- By her later impersonation, controls most of the shared body, leaving Gu Yuena feeling displaced within her own consciousness 254.

- Gu Yuena — Humanity incarnation, shared-soul counterpart, and rival for Su Ling’s affection. Gu Yue alternately exiles, blames, rescues, confines, and impersonates her; the two briefly reunite into the complete Silver Dragon King 5 56 170 236 254.
- Di Tian — Subordinate who addresses her as his lord. His hostility toward Su Ling complicates his service, and his delayed report of Su Ling’s engagement enrages her 5 91 170.
