Background

In Su Ling's previous life, Ye Wanqing searched the continent for her son during the Soul Beast assault on Heaven Dou City. She was ultimately pinned down by the Titan Giant Ape's Gravity Domain while trying to reach him and was killed during the attack. Gu Yue later admits that she ordered the assault, and that one of her subordinates killed Ye Wanqing. 4 50 137

In her current life, Ye Wanqing is alarmed by Su Ling's drastic change in temperament and cultivation. Ye Lingling reports that his killing intent terrified members of the Imperial Dou Team, while Ye Wanqing fears that her son may have been possessed or otherwise changed beyond recognition. 9

Ye Wanqing is fiercely maternal. Su Ling's injuries, disappearances, and apparent willingness to sacrifice himself repeatedly drive her into panic, grief, or rage; nevertheless, she places his wishes above her own resentment when he genuinely begs for help. 48 57 90 202

She can maintain a poised, formal demeanor when receiving powerful guests, but becomes uncompromising when her family is threatened. After Su Ling is found gravely injured, Ye Wanqing is devastated and remains at his side. When Gu Yuena attempts to use her own life essence to save him, Ye Wanqing rejects her help and strikes her, holding her responsible for his condition. 25 54

Gu Yuena's Atonement

Su Ling's insistence on helping Gu Yuena forces Ye Wanqing to confront how unfamiliar her son has become.
