She Died. Are You Happy Now? What Is This Familiar Feeling?

Medical ethics had nothing to do with Uchiha Dan.

After all, he'd started working at the hospital just so he could make himself useful and stay alive.

That didn't mean he liked it or wanted to do it.

If it weren't for Tsunade, he'd have quit the hospital by now. Once you had the strength to stand on your own, who would willingly put up with this?

After Uchiha En shouted, he realized no one was moving. All the medical staff were staring at him as if he were an idiot.

"What are you standing around for? Go get someone!" Uchiha En roared furiously.

A nurse beside him couldn't take it anymore. She stepped in front of Uchiha Dan and said, "Doctor Dan, if we delay any longer, the patient really will die."

"He won't let me treat her. If she dies, that's on him. Don't worry about it," Uchiha Dan said mockingly, looking on as if it were all a show.

"What?" Uchiha En's eyes widened. "You're Doctor Dan? How is that possible?"

"Heh! Don't I look the part?" Uchiha Dan sneered.

"Then hurry up and treat her!" Uchiha En grew even angrier. Was Uchiha Dan messing with him?

"Uchiha En!" Afraid the situation would get out of hand, the nurse scolded him, her voice already full of anger. "You're all crowding into the operating room. How's Doctor Dan supposed to operate? Didn't you hear him tell you to get out?"

Uchiha En's chest heaved. He clenched his fists and glared at the nurse as if he wanted to devour her.

Uchiha Dan pulled the young nurse behind him and smiled. "Don't worry. Let them keep wasting time."

"That guy will be dead in five minutes at most. After that, this won't be our problem. Let him be."

"F-five minutes?" Uchiha En's voice trembled.

"That's right. She had ten minutes before, since the sooner treatment began, the better. But..." Uchiha Dan looked up at the clock in the operating room and sneered. "You've used your strength to waste five of them."

"I wonder how badly this teammate of yours must have wronged you for you to insist on getting her killed."

"You..." Uchiha En was about to explode again, but his teammates had had enough. One stepped forward and grabbed his arm. "Captain, let's get out of here. Rei really is going to die if we don't."

Now, even Uchiha En's teammates were fed up with him, not just the onlookers.

Rei was on the verge of death, and he was still making a scene and delaying her treatment? Was he trying to save her or get her killed?

How had this man ever become their captain?

With that, one Uchiha Clan ninja and another teammate dragged Uchiha En out by force.

"Doctor Dan, sorry for the trouble," one of them said sincerely as he passed Uchiha Dan.

"Finally, someone talking sense!" Uchiha Dan got moving. He went to the patient and began using the Mystical Palm Technique to stop the bleeding, while giving orders. "Get my medical kit. Prepare the blood plasma and the operating room."

"Yes!" Everyone immediately got back to work.

Uchiha Dan truly lived up to his reputation as the Shinobi World's greatest Medical Ninja. The operation was over in no time.

Over the next hour, Uchiha Dan also performed the Acupuncture Technique on the ninja named Uchiha Rei, then used the Mystical Palm Technique to stabilize her wound and speed up its healing.

Two hours later, Uchiha Dan emerged from the operating room and took a cup of water from a nurse. He drank a large gulp.

"How is she?" Before he'd even finished drinking, a figure rushed up to him. "I'm asking you—how is Rei?"

"She died. Are you fucking happy now?" Uchiha Dan said coldly. "You delayed her treatment and got your own teammate killed, you bastard."

"No... No way... Rei can't be dead..." Uchiha En's voice trembled.

"Doctor Dan, Rei..." Another ninja, Uchiha Zhi, walked up, unable to hide his grief. His voice trembled as he asked for confirmation.

"She's fine. The operation went smoothly," Uchiha Dan replied evenly. "But she wasn't brought in soon enough, and she lost too much blood. On top of that, someone delayed her treatment, so it'll take her longer to recover."

"You... You fucking tricked me?" Uchiha En realized what was going on. He grabbed Uchiha Dan by the collar. "You disgrace to the Uchiha Clan! You dare mess with me?"

"Captain, let go of him!" Uchiha Zhi snapped, grabbing Uchiha En by the wrist. "I said, let go!"

The other Uchiha Clan ninjas stepped forward as well, and without exception, they all sided with Uchiha Dan.

Dan had saved Rei's life. Since when did the Uchiha Clan treat their benefactors like this?

Uchiha En was stunned.

These were his teammates, the people he spent every day with in the Police Force. Uchiha Dan was nothing but a useless outcast, driven from the clan.

How could they take the side of that good-for-nothing Uchiha Dan and turn against him?

"You..." Uchiha En was so furious he was about to explode. "Are you rebelling? You're siding with an outsider against me!"

"He saved Rei," Uchiha Zhi said coldly.

"Hmph! He didn't even treat her properly!" Uchiha En pointed at Uchiha Dan.

"What do you mean, it'll take her longer to recover? I heard you know a miraculous Medical Ninjutsu. Even people with broken legs recover in no time. You're the one who wants Rei dead."

"Uchiha En, you've gone too far!" The hospital director arrived late, having heard about what happened. He was furious at Uchiha En's words.

"The last time our Doctor Dan used the Revival Technique, it took him a full three days to recover."

"That technique should only be used when someone's life is at stake!"

"Uchiha Rei's life is no longer in danger. If Doctor Dan used the Revival Technique without regard for the consequences, he'd be showing extreme irresponsibility toward his other patients."

"Our hospital follows a standard treatment protocol. As the director, I can't approve of that."

"I don't care whether you approve!" Uchiha En didn't even look at him. He stared coldly at Uchiha Dan. "Are you going to treat her or not?"

"I already treated her!" Uchiha Dan replied coldly.

"Uchiha Dan, quit your bullshit. Don't forget, you're an Uchiha too."

"Hahahaha!" Uchiha Dan suddenly burst into laughter. "Didn't you just call me an outsider? Didn't you just call me a disgrace to the Uchiha Clan? Didn't you call me useless? Now I'm an Uchiha again?"

"Could you have any less shame? Uchiha Kagami expelled me from the Uchiha Clan for no reason seven years ago. I was removed from the clan registry. I have nothing to do with you anymore."

"The Uchiha in my name comes from my father, not from the Uchiha Clan."

"Fine!" Uchiha En gritted his teeth. "You good-for-nothing, just wait!"

Uchiha En couldn't take it anymore. He stormed out of the hospital, seething with rage.

Uchiha Dan didn't take Uchiha En's threat seriously at all. In fact, he thought this was his chance.

He'd been wanting to show off his strength and find an opportunity to speak with Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Now trouble had come looking for him on its own. All he had to do was wait.

When he returned to his office, Uchiha Dan found that Tsunade was still fast asleep. He was at a loss.

She really was oblivious. The whole hospital had been roused, and somehow none of it had woken her.

Still, it showed how much she trusted Uchiha Dan. She believed he could handle everything just fine.

But as soon as Uchiha Dan sat down, Tsunade sensed something in her sleep and suddenly woke up.

"Dan, you're back?"

Uchiha Dan was speechless. Why did that feel so familiar?

Like a wife waiting at home for her husband to come back from work, only to fall asleep while waiting?
