"Did you kill him?" Jola asked, staring at Shirakawa after he killed the Navy Captain. Jola was stunned. He'd hit the Marines pretty hard himself, but he hadn't killed anyone.
But Shirakawa had killed a Marine—and not just any Marine, but the highest-ranking officer at the Marine Base, a Navy Captain.
"Damn it! The captain's been killed! We can't let them leave! Everyone, get ready to fire!" the only other surviving commander ordered the Marines who were still able to move.

"Tch. You want to avenge your commanding officer? You're certainly responsible, but I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. You won't be able to keep us here."
"You insolent bastard! Fire!"
Jola had already prepared to defend himself, but in that instant, he felt an overwhelming aura sweep over him. Then he watched as the Marines around them fainted one after another.
"That ability again. What kind of power is that?" Jola asked Shirakawa.
"You don't know? That's Conqueror's Haki."
"Conqueror's... Haki?"
"Seriously? You don't even know about that? Then how did you learn Armament Haki?"
"My master taught me, of course."
"Didn't your master tell you about Conqueror's Haki?"
"No. I only know about the other kind, Observation Haki." Jola could use Observation Haki too, but he hadn't mastered it. He'd only just begun learning it, and it worked inconsistently.
"Fine. I'll explain. Haki comes in three types: Conqueror's Haki, Armament Haki, and Observation Haki."
"You already know
