Background and History

Tang San was Yu Xiaogang’s disciple by the time Qian Mo’s group passed through Nuoding City. During that encounter, a chain of misfortunes left both Tang San and Yu Xiaogang humiliated, with Tang San falling into a cesspit 6.

At age nine, Tang San worked day and night in a blacksmith shop to purchase rare metals for his hidden weapons. His Mysterious Heaven Skill had stalled at a bottleneck, and he lacked the resources that would have strengthened him in the original trajectory 17. He later fought a two-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider and absorbed its Soul Ring, but Qian Mo compelled the dying creature to surrender the nascent Eight Spider Lances before Tang San could acquire them 18.

By age twelve, Tang San had reached Rank 29 Soul Grand Master. He travelled to Suotuo City with Xiao Wu, hoping to earn money through the Spirit Arena because he could barely afford tuition 19. At Shrek Academy, he initially regarded himself as a genuine “monster,” but Qian Mo and Zhu Zhuqing’s power shattered his confidence in Yu Xiaogang’s Soul Ring theories 21 22.

Tang San repeatedly clashed with Qian Mo’s group. He attempted to use poisoned hidden weapons against Zhao Wuji during his entrance assessment, but Qian Mo intercepted every projectile with a teacup lid; Zhao Wuji then beat Tang San unconscious 24.
