Background / History

Original World

Born as the son of Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan leader Yu Yuanzhen, Yu Xiaogang was expected to awaken a powerful dragon martial soul. Instead, his dormant Bright Holy Dragon bloodline lacked sufficient support from his half-level innate soul power and collapsed into the pig-like Luo San Pao. The failure made him the target of clan ridicule and left him deeply sensitive to perceived mockery. 127 146 147

Rather than pursuing a different path of cultivation, he immersed himself in martial soul texts and attempted to prove that Luo San Pao could evolve. The Heavenly Screen later characterizes his “Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul” as material copied from the Martial Soul Hall library and mixed with personal conjecture. 145

His obsession harmed Luo San Pao’s foundation. He forced the martial soul to absorb a rat-type soul ring despite its resistance, polluting its remaining holy dragon bloodline and producing the foul first soul skill Fart Like Thunder, Shake Heaven and Earth Luo San Pao. 128

At Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, Yu Xiaogang deduced that Tang San possessed Twin Martial Souls after seeing Blue Silver Grass paired with Innate Full Soul Power. Tang San nearly killed him to preserve the secret, but accepted him as master after deciding his knowledge could help obtain a soul ring and overcome the Mysterious Heaven Skill bottleneck. 30 31

Yu Xiaogang guided Tang San toward an animal-type Mandala Snake ring and considered using a Ten-Year Solitary Bamboo as a first ring, claiming this would validate his Mimicry Theory. Later comparisons present these decisions as dangerously inadequate for a Twin Martial Soul genius. 46 47 144

Relationships with Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong

Yu Xiaogang met Bibi Dong in the Martial Soul Hall Library of Scriptures, where they bonded over martial soul theory and promised to explore its mysteries together. 150 151

After Qian Xunji coerced Bibi Dong, she falsely told Yu Xiaogang that she had never loved him in an attempt to protect him. Yu Xiaogang believed her, insulted her, and left Martial Soul Hall. 151

He later traveled with Flender and Liu Erlong. Liu Erlong fell in love with him, but on their wedding night they learned they were first cousins. Yu Xiaogang fled, leaving Liu Erlong behind; she waited for him for twenty years. 58

White World

The White World is an alternate life created after Tang Shan sends a strand of divine consciousness through time and space. In this life, Yu Xiaogang awakens the god-tier Bright Dragon King rather than Luo San Pao. 145 147

As the Dragon King Douluo, he possesses divine-level spiritual power, reaches Level 99, and openly confronts Qian Xunji to protect Bibi Dong rather than abandoning her. 149 151

Personality

Original World

Yu Xiaogang presents himself as calm, profound, and scholarly, often using an authoritative manner to support his theories. His confidence is rooted in a strong need to prove that neither he nor Luo San Pao is worthless. 16 30 147

The failure of his awakening leaves him insecure, paranoid, and highly sensitive to humiliation. His fixation on theory drives reckless choices, including damaging Luo San Pao’s bloodline and treating Tang San as proof that his teachings are correct. 128 145

When confronted with emotional responsibility, he repeatedly falters: he abandons Liu Erlong on their wedding night and misjudges Bibi Dong’s attempt to protect him. 58 151

White World

The White World Yu Xiaogang is self-assured, decisive, and openly protective of Bibi Dong. He relies on both overwhelming strength and confidence rather than theory alone. 147 151

Abilities & Skills

Luo San Pao

Yu Xiaogang’s Original World martial soul is a failed manifestation of the Bright Holy Dragon bloodline, taking the form of a pig-like creature.

  • Its formation is linked to Yu Xiaogang’s half-level innate soul power, which could not sustain its intended holy dragon form. 127
  • Yu Xiaogang’s forced soul-ring choices further degrade its light attribute and potential. 128
  • Luo San Pao ultimately rejects Yu Xiaogang and seeks Tang Shan’s aid to return to its true nature. 129 130

Fart Like Thunder, Shake Heaven and Earth Luo San Pao

Luo San Pao’s first documented soul skill releases a dense yellow gas with an overwhelming stench.

  • The gas repels a pack of Ten-Year Nether Wolves. 149
  • Yu Xiaogang describes it as an area group-control skill. 149
  • The skill is generated after Luo San Pao absorbs an incompatible rat-type soul ring, leaving the martial soul ashamed and its holy dragon bloodline polluted. 128

Martial Soul Theory

Yu Xiaogang teaches the “Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul” and promotes the principle that there are no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters. 16 17

  • He identifies Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls from the apparent contradiction between Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power. 30
  • The deduction is later exposed as an incorrect conclusion reached by coincidence: Tang San’s soul power was principally supported by years of Mysterious Heaven Skill cultivation. 45
  • His Mimicry Theory recommends attaching animal attributes to Blue Silver Grass, including the Mandala Snake ring. 46
  • Tang Shan’s Life Devouring cultivation method demonstrates an alternative Blue Silver Grass path based on vegetation resonance and life force. 47

Bright Dragon King

The White World Yu Xiaogang’s martial soul is the fully awakened form of his dragon potential.

  • Awakens with Innate Level 20 Soul Power and sacred dragon manifestations. 147
  • Grants divine-level spiritual power sufficient to disregard ordinary Soul Shock concerns. 149
  • Supports the Dragon King Douluo’s nine red soul-ring configuration and Level 99 strength. 146 151

Relationships

  • Tang San — Disciple in the Original World. Tang San accepts Yu Xiaogang chiefly for knowledge and help acquiring a soul ring; their bond deteriorates as Yu Xiaogang’s theories are publicly discredited. 31 45 130
  • Luo San Pao — His mutated martial soul. Yu Xiaogang’s forced soul-ring choices damage its holy dragon bloodline; Luo San Pao later severs their contract and abandons him. 128 129
  • Bibi Dong — Former lover. They meet through their shared interest in martial soul theory, but Yu Xiaogang believes her protective lie and leaves her; the White World version instead protects her from Qian Xunji. 150 151
  • Liu Erlong — Former fiancée and first cousin. Yu Xiaogang flees their wedding after learning of their blood relation, leaving her to wait for him for twenty years. 58
  • Flender — Traveling companion and friend. Flender supports Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong’s relationship despite his own feelings for Liu Erlong, then condemns Yu Xiaogang for abandoning her. 58
  • Yu Yuanzhen — Father and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan leader. He attempts to steer Yu Xiaogang toward safer cultivation choices, but Yu Xiaogang defies him. 147 148
  • Xiao Wu — In the Current World, Yu Xiaogang takes her as a disciple and brings her to the Soul Hunting Forest; after he is poisoned, delayed treatment leaves him hemiplegic. 31
  • Tang Shan — Tang Shan exposes the failures of Yu Xiaogang’s cultivation and theory, then offers Luo San Pao divine blood and a chance to reclaim its holy dragon nature. 128 129

Story Role / Major Arcs

Tang San’s Apprenticeship

Yu Xiaogang becomes Tang San’s master after correctly—but coincidentally—guessing that the child possesses Twin Martial Souls. His meager resources and theoretical instruction are repeatedly contrasted with Tang Shan’s divine inheritance, elite mentors, and cultivation resources. 16 17 31

Exposure of the “Theory Master”

The Heavenly Screen reveals that Yu Xiaogang’s fame depends heavily on Tang San’s talent and accomplishments. Without Tang San in the Current World, he fails to gain recognition, is beaten after misleading other families, and becomes a destitute wanderer. 45 46

Luo San Pao’s Rebellion

The screen reveals that Luo San Pao began as a suppressed Bright Holy Dragon bloodline before Yu Xiaogang’s choices caused further degeneration. When Tang Shan offers it divine blood, Luo San Pao chooses to abandon Yu Xiaogang and reclaim its dragon potential. 127 129 130

Black-and-White World Comparison

The Heavenly Screen compares the Original World “Pseudo-Master,” who remains at Level 29, with the White World Dragon King Douluo. The latter awakens the Bright Dragon King, reaches Level 99, and protects Bibi Dong through direct confrontation with Qian Xunji. 145 146 151

Notable Quotes

“There are no useless martial souls, only useless spirit masters.” 16

“You must have Twin Martial Souls!” 30

“Dong'er, don't be afraid. Today, no one can take you away from my side.” 151

Trivia

  • Yu Xiaogang’s first encounter with Tang San nearly ends with Tang San firing a Sleeve Arrow at him. 30
  • His attempt to feed Tang San a dry, hard steamed bun nearly chokes his new disciple to death. 31
  • The Black World’s public evaluation labels him a plagiarist who exploits his disciple and remains Level 29 for life. 145
