Background

In his previous life, Nie Li survived the destruction of the City of Brilliance and the deaths of his family, friends, and Ye Ziyun. After Ye Ziyun died protecting him during the survivors’ flight through the Endless Desert, he travelled the Sacred Spirit Continent, encountered countless dangers and mysteries, and eventually obtained the Book of the Temporal Demonic Spirit. He later died while besieged by the Sacred Emperor and six Divine Rank Demon Beasts. 1

His soul returns to his thirteen-year-old body at Sacred Lan Academy. Believing the Book of the Temporal Demonic Spirit caused his rebirth, Nie Li resolves to prevent the City of Brilliance’s fall, protect the people he lost, avenge his past, and alter the fate that separated him from Ye Ziyun. 1

Although born into the declining Sky Scar Family and initially possessing only a red Soul Sea, Nie Li retains the knowledge, combat experience, and survival instincts accumulated in his previous life. 1 3 5

At the time of his rebirth, Nie Li is thirteen years old. He has defined features, sharp eyebrows, and bright eyes; he is slightly taller than Ye Ziyun. The Stone Coffin’s white light later purifies his body and expels impurities through his skin. 1 16 38

His rebirth makes him unusually composed for his age. He approaches threats with calculation rather than panic, conceals the full extent of his knowledge, and turns hostile actions—such as Chu Yuan’s attempt to destroy his Soul Sea—into opportunities for advancement. 18 30 31
