Background & History
Silvally was created by Aether Paradise as an artificial weapon against Ultra Beasts. Cruel treatment from its earliest days intensified its innate violence and left it distrustful of humans; as the apparent last surviving Silvally, it regarded freedom as inseparable from loneliness. Before meeting Yan Yang, it had already lost its own kind and carried memories of killing both an individual named Azure and another Silvally designated Number 66. 260 377
Known as Number 77, it initially accepted Yan Yang's proposed name, “Silvally,” but refused to accept Yan Yang himself. It planned to leave once free of its restraints, viewing relationships as transactions and fearing that its aggression would make companionship impossible. 260 Entei confronted it over this attitude, stressing that Yan Yang sought family rather than its combat power. Silvally gradually began initiating contact, following Yan Yang's requests, and considering integration with the rest of the team. 295 296
When Yan Yang was unexpectedly stranded in Kanto and could not communicate with Johto, Silvally interpreted the prolonged absence as abandonment. Its anxiety escalated into a destructive rampage, followed by a 21-day dormancy. During this period, its AR System and an overwrite program distorted its perception of humans and tried to replace its free will with a hostile killing-machine mentality. 381 420 434
Wang Yan subdued and confined Silvally after its rampage, while League researchers examined it for its valuable AR System technology. Yan Yang later found it in the League laboratory and used Evergreen Power to help it resist the system's control. Silvally awoke with amnesia, temporarily returning to the designation Number 77, but still trusted Yan Yang enough to let him ride on its back. 421 441 442
Silvally formally accepted Yan Yang as its Trainer while amnesiac, then regained its memories during the League proceedings. When Yan Yang publicly affirmed its true name and asked it to become his partner, Silvally accepted; its mask shattered, revealing its complete form and ending the restraint that had bound it. 443 453
Appearance
Silvally is a large, futuristic mechanical beast with a silver-white body, metallic limbs, and a powerful but animalistic build. Before its liberation, it wore a suppressive mask that concealed much of its true appearance. 381 443 453
- Silver-gray armor and streamlined metallic plating. 434 623
- Mechanical claws capable of gouging wood and striking with great force. 434 624
- A bladed tail used to push objects away or cut through vegetation. 442 456
- Eyes can glow blood-red when it is losing control or influenced by cognitive overwrite. 421 434
- Its true form has a silver head, silver neck, and bird-like wings. 453
- Drive switches are located on both sides of its head for inserting memory discs. 463
Personality
Silvally is naturally fierce, highly rational, and reserved. It struggles to express affection directly, often dismissing emotional attachment even while preserving Yan Yang's photo as a stabilizing reminder during its worst mental state. 260 456 Its instinctive aggression remains difficult to suppress, and it worries that it may hurt Yan Yang's other Pokémon if it loses control. 365 548
Its amnesia briefly made it much more openly affectionate and proactive toward Yan Yang. After recovering its memories, it became more rational and somewhat distant again, but forgave Yan Yang for leaving it alone and chose to prioritize his commands. 446 455
Silvally values freedom deeply and resents being treated as an object, weapon, or research specimen. Its eventual acceptance of the name “Silvally” marks its rejection of the Number 77 designation and its choice to define itself as Yan Yang's partner rather than an experiment. 441 453
Abilities & Skills
AR System
Silvally's AR System is an integrated analysis and transformation system. It is both a major source of its power and a dangerous second consciousness capable of conflicting with Silvally's own will. 420 441 453
- Changes Silvally's type according to inserted Drives. 260 456
- Enables rapid tactical analysis and independent combat judgment. 624
- Fully merged with Silvally after its mask broke. 456
- Has an autonomous personality that attempted to choose a different master and previously initiated forced memory overwrite. 430 453
- Can be targeted by external interference, including attempts to override Silvally's master-recognition program. 647 694
Drive Adaptation
Silvally can use its attribute storage discs to assume different types. Following its special change, it can equip one additional Drive, though its maximum capacity is unknown. 260 456
- Changed into a Fire type using a Fire-type memory disc. 463
- Successfully used Fire and Fairy Drives simultaneously, becoming Fire/Fairy-type. 463
- Its dual-type attacks retain both types rather than merely stacking separate moves. 464
- Dual-type adaptation initially requires time to stabilize, and its combined attack power can be divided when an opponent resists one of the types. 463 464
- Yan Yang theorizes that its multi-type genes could eventually support far more Drives, but considers Silvally's safety more important than testing that possibility. 456
Multi-Attack
Multi-Attack is Silvally's signature offensive move and changes in accordance with its equipped Drives. 456 463
- Used against Entei during Fire-type training. 463
- Can carry two types at once when two Drives are installed. 464
- Its base power is described as exceptionally high, and it allows Silvally to challenge powerful opponents directly. 463 464
- It was ineffective against Volcanion's overwhelming power; Silvally was critically injured after Steam Eruption countered its attack. 579
Physical Combat and Analysis
Silvally was designed for battle and combines powerful physical attacks with rapid battlefield assessment. 377 624
- Rending Claw is its favored move and symbolizes its desire to tear through its restraints and darkness without harming innocents. 443
- Known moves after its liberation include Multi-Attack, Explosion, Parting Shot, Tri Attack, Iron Head, X-Scissor, Crunch, and the elemental Fang moves. 456
- Its amnesiac status scan recorded Battle Armor, preventing critical hits. 443
- It defeated Armorouge and became the household's second-in-command in strength. 465
- In its official Battle House debut, it held back against Jerry's Grapploct before defeating it through precise counters and movement. 624 625
- It later crushed two additional opponents in less than six minutes combined. 626
TM-Based Learning
Silvally learns moves through TMs with extraordinary speed but cannot effectively learn through ordinary instruction. 464
- Fully analyzed and learned Fire Pledge in 0.37 seconds. 464
- Learned Water Pledge and Grass Pledge through TMs. 464 465
- Failed to learn Heat Wave despite Entei demonstrating it for several hours. 464
- Initially failed to use two Pledge Moves simultaneously by itself. 465
- Later combined Fire and Water Pledge in battle, creating a rainbow effect that overwhelmed Grapploct. 625
Equipment / Items
- Type-Storing Discs / Drives — Attribute discs inserted through switches on Silvally's head to change its type and empower Multi-Attack. 260 463
- Yan Yang's photo — A fragile family photo Silvally kept with it; it served as a mental “firewall” against complete loss of reason. 456
- Silver Sun Seal — A special badge worn on its neck as an exclusive symbol of its Bond with Yan Yang. 617
- Heal Ball / Friend Ball — Poké Balls associated with Yan Yang; Silvally initially resisted being recalled but later accepted Yan Yang as its Trainer. 442 443 461
Relationships
- Yan Yang — Trainer, partner, and the first human Silvally chose to accept. Yan Yang's patience, Evergreen Power, and singing repeatedly help Silvally resist mental collapse and AR System interference. 260 443 445 647
- Entei — Yan Yang's father figure and Silvally's stern teammate. Entei initially reprimanded Silvally over its intent to leave, but later supported efforts to clear its name and recover its memories. 295 445
- AR System — An inseparable internal system and competing consciousness. It provides Silvally's analysis and Drive abilities but has attempted to overwrite its memories and control its master-recognition protocol. 430 441 453
- Armorouge — Rival for the team's second-in-command position. Silvally defeated Armorouge, displacing it in the household hierarchy. 465
- Wang Yan — Johto League Champion who subdued and confined Silvally during its rampage, then later allowed Yan Yang to take it out temporarily after it awoke. 421 442
- Turtwig — A younger teammate Silvally is learning to tolerate and cooperate with during Pledge Move training. 548
Story Role / Major Arcs
- Naming and early integration — Yan Yang names Number 77 “Silvally”; despite insisting it will leave, Silvally begins responding to Yan Yang's care and Entei's guidance. 260 295 296
- Abandonment crisis — Yan Yang's unplanned absence triggers Silvally's fear of abandonment, rampage, dormancy, and AR System-induced cognitive overwrite. 381 389 420 434
- League confinement and trial — Wang Yan captures Silvally, the League researches it, and Yan Yang investigates the accusations against it while defending its right not to be treated as a weapon. 421 433 437 451
- Awakening and true form — Yan Yang helps Silvally awaken from amnesia; its acceptance of its name and partner bond breaks the mask and restores its full power. 441 443 453
- Post-liberation training — Silvally gains level 80, unlocks dual-Drive use, learns Pledge Moves through TMs, defeats Armorouge, and begins formal Trainer battles. 456 463 465 624
- Continued exploitation attempts — Its artificial nature remains a vulnerability, as hostile researchers and Doctor Poppy attempt to interfere with or override its systems. 647 694
