Kirk thought it over briefly and understood why. The Rubber Man had ten Parasite nodes in all. Earlier, when he attacked it head-on, each strike had destroyed one node, making it stagger back in pain. But he had also destroyed that node. As fewer and fewer nodes remained on the front of its body, it became harder to hit one. And as long as even a single Parasite node remained, the Rubber Man wouldn't die!
In the end, blindly attacking meant his chances would keep getting worse.
Kirk's eyes darted around.
His immediate priority was to knock it back.
There were still three minutes before the combination lock would open.
Until then, Kirk could only rely on himself.
He leaped, trying to charge past the Rubber Man on its left, but the creature was incredibly quick to react. The space was cramped, too, and this time the Rubber Man grabbed him with one hand!

He activated [Ultimate Crush] and plunged his dagger deep into the Rubber Man's neck!
But astonishingly, even with Kirk's 100 Strength, the dagger only sank an inch into its neck before stopping, as if he'd stabbed a slab of rubber!
The Rubber Man grinned, baring a mouthful of yellow teeth. The sight made Kirk's skin crawl.
Then a tremendous force began pushing the dagger back out, inch by inch!
It was as if the creature were exerting force from within its muscles. Its strength was actually greater than Kirk's 100 points!
Kirk's attack failed. The Rubber Man let out a roar and slammed a fist into him!
The elite bioengineered monster sent Kirk flying high into the air. He crashed against the reinforced glass,
