Background / History
Ye Yun was a young man from another world whose soul transmigrated into the Zhu Xian plane. The System arranged him an orphan identity and branded him with the world’s imprint to keep the Heavenly Dao from rejecting him; it also strengthened and reshaped his body, though it required cultivation energy to remain active. 2 18
Stranded in Cao Miao Village in a child’s body, Ye Yun initially focused on food and survival. Knowing the village’s coming tragedy from his familiarity with the original plot, he befriended Zhang Xiaofan and Lin Jingyu, caught birds with them, and brought food to the monk Pu Zhi in hopes of gaining his protection. 3 4 6 7
After the destruction of Cao Miao Village, Qingyun Sect rescued Ye Yun and the other surviving children. He and Zhang Xiaofan became Tian Buyi’s disciples on Great Bamboo Peak, while Lin Jingyu entered Dragon Head Peak. Su Ru personally taught Ye Yun the local writing system, meridians, and acupoints before guiding his first cultivation session. 9 13 16 17
Appearance
Ye Yun initially appears as a small, unusually attractive child whose System-strengthened body is compared to a carved jade doll. During his descent from Great Bamboo Peak, he wears cyan robes, carries a cloth bag, and travels with a long sword. 14 32
- System-enhanced physique with unusually easy meridian and acupoint access. 18
- Soft, youthful face frequently pinched by Tian Ling'er and his senior siblings. 14 19
- Later noted as a handsome young swordsman while traveling through Heyang City. 33
Personality
Ye Yun is pragmatic and highly adaptive. In unfamiliar situations, he assesses his options quickly—whether that means using childish behavior to obtain food, concealing his cultivation, following suspicious cultivators to hidden resources, or exploiting an opponent’s overconfidence in battle. 2 3 24 41 50
Despite his calculating side, he is compassionate toward people he considers vulnerable. He shares food with Pu Zhi, encourages Zhang Xiaofan when he doubts his talent, rescues civilians enslaved by gangs, and arranges compensation and shelter for women who cannot return home. 6 19 39 40
He is also protective and possessive toward Tian Ling'er. His hostility toward Qi Hao begins as jealousy over Qi Hao’s pursuit of her, while his later choices make clear that he values their relationship over pursuing other women he knows of through the original plot. 28 30 31
