Background / History
Great Bamboo Peak
Tian Ling'er is the daughter of Great Bamboo Peak’s leaders, Tian Buyi and Su Ru. She is introduced as a lively young girl with bright eyes, standing beside her mother in Shou Jing Hall when Ye Yun and Zhang Xiaofan formally join the peak. 13
She immediately teases Zhang Xiaofan for blushing at her, establishing her habit of playfully bullying her junior brothers. Su Ru repeatedly admonishes her to protect Ye Yun rather than bully him. 14 16
Bond with Ye Yun
Tian Ling'er initially plays with Ye Yun to distract him from his grief, though she also enjoys rubbing his chubby face and waking him through tricks such as tickling, removing his blankets, or tempting him with food. 15 16
Her treatment of Ye Yun gradually becomes openly caring. She feeds him congee so he will not be late for lessons, waits in his room with food while he cultivates, and trains with him daily for the Seven Peaks Martial Arts Tournament. 20 21 23
Over three years, she grows from a twelve-year-old girl into a graceful young woman, while retaining her mischievous habit of pestering Ye Yun. She kisses him after securing his promise to practice with her every day. 21
Dao Companion
When Qi Hao attempts to court her, Tian Ling'er rejects his gift and advances while openly favoring Ye Yun. 28 30 After her parents learn of their relationship, they approve, though Tian Buyi instructs them to wait until Ye Yun comes of age before formally becoming Dao companions. 30
Tian Ling'er ultimately asks Ye Yun to become her Dao companion. They vow to remain together for life and follow one another through life and death. 31 32 When Ye Yun descends the mountain for training, she resolves to enter seclusion and improve her cultivation rather than fall behind him. 32

- Often wears red clothing in battle. 29
- Her appearance is praised by Qi Hao, though she reacts with outward indifference and private pride. 28
Personality
Tian Ling'er is playful, mischievous, and fond of teasing those close to her. Her teasing of Ye Yun ranges from face-pinching and tickling to binding him with Amber Zhu Ling during sparring. 16 24 25
Beneath this behavior, she is attentive and affectionate. She feeds Ye Yun, prepares food for him, accompanies him in cultivation, and worries about matching his rapid progress. 20 23 32
