Background

Gu Bei and his elder sister, Gu Lan, are direct descendants of the Gu Clan. Gu Lan was formerly regarded as the clan’s most outstanding younger-generation member, but became paralyzed from the waist down after an apparent cultivation accident; Gu Bei believed she had been caught in the family’s internal power struggle. Her condition left her unable to cultivate and subjected both siblings to diminished standing within the clan. 36

Beneath that façade, he is patient, calculating, and deeply devoted to Gu Lan.
