Feng Yu first appears as a flame-wreathed Vermilion Bird before assuming the form of a woman in a red dress. Having no personal name, she asks Shangguan Ye to name her; he gives her the name Feng Yu. She immediately pledges herself to him, though he tells her she need not kneel in the future. 42

Shangguan Ye imprints a teleportation mark on her hand, granting her access to the Mountain River Space as a residence and base of operations. 42

Service in the Mountain River Space

Feng Yu quickly establishes herself as one of Shangguan Ye's strongest protectors. After overwhelming Yu Yan in a fire-law duel, she is placed in charge of managing the Monster Beasts Shangguan Ye has brought into the Mountain River Space. 43 44

She later displays her peak Martial Ancestor aura before the Gu Clan, forcing everyone except Shangguan Ye's group to their knees and enabling Gu Lan and Gu Bei's faction to negotiate from a position of strength. 48 49
