Six little slimes were injected with cell solutions from Overlord Ninja Tiger and the Four-Tusk Wild Boar King.
This time, the difference between the Ninja Beasts' bloodlines and Naruto's bloodline was clear. Half an hour passed, and the six little slimes had changed very little, but it was still possible to observe them beginning to fuse with the Ninja Beasts' bloodlines.
"This time, it should work," Yu said.
This kind of cell-fusion experiment wasn't much of a secret; money was all it took. Besides, his experimental setup was extremely crude and lacked any proper equipment. He simply extracted the cell solution, injected it into the little slimes, and waited for it to fuse. He hadn't considered what to do if something went wrong during the process.
There was no helping it. At best, he was only half a self-taught scientist. Being able to conduct proper experiments at all was impressive enough, and he couldn't do much better in such a short time.
This fusion experiment lasted longer than the previous one. From six in the morning until six in the evening, all six slimes were still in the middle of fusing, and the changes they underwent were much subtler than those caused by injecting Naruto's cells.
But Yu didn't slack off for a moment during the process. He kept a close eye on the little slimes' changes at all times.
Finally, around midnight, four of the six little slimes stopped changing. Their life signs were normal, and aside from being slightly bigger than before the injections, nothing else about them had changed. That meant the bloodline fusion had failed in these four.
Fortunately, they hadn't turned into liquid like the previous one, so they could still be used in the next experiment.
The other two little slimes were still fusing. As it happened, one had been injected with cells from each of the two Ninja Beasts.
At three in the morning, the two little slimes finished fusing as well, but their appearances had changed dramatically.
Their bodies had originally been transparent and oval. Now one had become a little pig the size of a basketball, while the other had become a little tiger the size of a volleyball. Their bodies were still transparent, though.
"Does this count as a success?"
Yu looked at the two little slimes as he spoke.
He was feeling a little excited, but he wouldn't know whether the experiment had really succeeded until he put them to the test.
First, he opened the glass box containing the little tiger (a code name he'd just come up with). One thing he could be sure of was that the little tiger had grown much stronger, since he now had better control over it.
"Come out!"
He gave the little tiger a command.
The little tiger, which had been lying at the bottom of the glass box, received Yu's command. The tiger-shaped slime crouched and gathered its strength like a real tiger, then leaped right over the half-meter-high glass box.
Then came a splat, and the little tiger hit the ground and flattened into a blob, like a lump of putty smashed against the floor.
But the little tiger wasn't hurt. A few seconds later, it returned to its little tiger form.
Yu found the sight rather amusing, but now wasn't the time to dwell on that. He needed to find out what abilities the little tiger had gained.
He picked the little tiger up from the floor and carried it to the strength-testing area.
"Attack the dummy in front of you."
Yu pointed to a dummy and gave the little tiger its command.
Although the little tiger looked like an independent creature, it followed Yu's commands completely. As soon as it received the order, it launched a fierce attack on the dummy in front of it.
The little tiger now acted just like a mighty tiger king. Every attack was aimed at the dummy's weak points, and its movements were extremely disciplined, as if a real tiger were fighting.
But Yu, standing off to the side, stared in disbelief, because he couldn't see anything fierce about the little tiger's attack.
From his perspective, the little tiger was licking the dummy furiously, then grabbing and hugging it. In the end, it couldn't even pull out a single hair.
"This...!"
He'd imagined that after inheriting the bloodline of Overlord Ninja Tiger, who was hailed as a king, the little slime would gain a tremendous boost in strength.
But all that had happened was that its appearance had changed, and it was now adorably silly. Nothing else seemed to be different.
"That doesn't make sense!"
Yu held the little tiger in his hands and examined it carefully. In the end, he could only confirm that aside from its appearance, nothing about it had changed.

There was still the little pig to check.
But the little pig was a bit different from the little tiger. It seemed livelier, and faint blue light could be seen flowing inside its transparent body.

Yu laughed with delight. The blue light inside the little pig really was Chakra, and this was his main goal.
Judging by the results so far, the experiment could already be called a success.

But the little pig didn't obey the command to use a technique. It wasn't refusing Yu's orders; it simply didn't know how.
So the final conclusion was that although the little pig had Chakra, it couldn't use techniques.
This was within Yu's expectations. He held the little pig in his hands and gave it another command.
"Extract Chakra!"
This time, the little pig began to act. It lay quietly on the ground, without making any special movements, but Yu could clearly see wisps of Chakra continuously pouring out of its body. As time passed, the little pig's body began to turn blue as the Chakra suffused it.
"This amount of Chakra already exceeds that of an average Chunin," Yu said, astonished and delighted.
And the little pig's Chakra was still increasing.
"If only I could use the little pig's Chakra," Yu said, placing his hand on its body.
The little pig received his words as a command and immediately acted according to Yu's wishes.
The Chakra inside the little pig began flowing through Yu's hand.
"This is..."
Yu's eyes widened in shock. He could clearly feel the Chakra inside him rapidly increasing, and it didn't feel at all incompatible with his own Chakra. The two blended together perfectly.
