"Hey! You over there, string bean! What are you standing around grinning about?"

A voice rang out, loud and clear.

The voice sounded familiar. Sun Busong looked toward its source.

A female Dwarf in a grass-green military uniform stood on the steps of a watchtower not far away, looking at him.

Suya. The name came to him immediately. In just a second, Sun Busong remembered a great many things.

Suya was the daughter of another master blacksmith. She was already an adult, but stood less than 1.2 meters tall.

Although Sun Busong's body was only nine years old, he wasn't short. At 1.5 meters, he stood head and shoulders above the people in the area.

Suya might not be tall, but she'd joined the mountaineer corps long ago. She was also an Elite Level Priest, and extremely popular at Anweimar Fortress.

The unmarried young men at the fortress were all trying their hardest to win her over.

"Oh, it's you, Big Sis Suya. Hello!"

Sun Busong smiled and nodded to her.

"I was thinking about something and didn't notice you. Did you need me for something?"

Suya jumped down the steps and quickly came over to him. She looked rather displeased as she said, "Of course I do. It's your old man again. He insisted I come check on you, saying you've been looking unwell lately and having nightmares all the time."

As she spoke, she reached out and slapped Sun Busong on the shoulder.

"Ow!"

She'd hit him with quite a bit of force, nearly knocking him flat. Sun Busong cried out in pain.

"Just look at you! I don't know how you can even call yourself a Dwarf. Those skinny arms, those skinny legs, that skinny waist! You're an embarrassment to the Dwarf race."

Sun Busong endured the pain and straightened up, then began looking himself over.

By ordinary human standards, Sun Busong wasn't all that weak. He had some muscle on his arms, at least. He'd often helped Uncle Hanyi over the past few years, and he'd gotten plenty of practice with a ten-pound hammer.

But by Dwarf standards, he was a weakling.

"What? You don't agree? Just look at you! How did your body develop like this? Instead of growing broad, you shot straight up. You're all deformed!"

Suya planted her hands on her barrel-shaped waist and pointed at Sun Busong as she lectured him.

There was no helping it. The Dwarf race prized a sturdy build. Whether man or woman, if your waist wasn't at least four feet around, people would laugh at you behind your back.

When he saw Suya raise her hand to slap him again, Sun Busong hurriedly dodged.

"Don't hit me, Big Sis Suya. With a body like mine, a few more slaps from you and I'll be done for. Then you'll have to go to the trouble of resurrecting me."

Suya lowered her hand and gave him a fierce eye roll. "Resurrect you? Look at yourself. You never exercise. Even a Stonejaw could beat you. And you don't study what they teach at school, either. You think anyone's going to resurrect you? Try reading a book for once!"

Hearing that, Sun Busong realized resurrection wasn't what he'd imagined, so he quickly asked, "Hehe, I've been having nightmares lately, so I kept dozing off in class and didn't learn anything. Could you please explain it to me again, lovely Big Sis Suya?"

At his compliment, a faint blush appeared on Suya's face.

"You're not much good at anything, kid, but you sure know how to flatter a woman. Hahaha! Fine, I'll explain it to you today."

"Mm-hmm. Then thank you, beautiful Suya."

"Hahaha, don't mention it."

After laughing heartily, Suya began to explain.

It didn't take long for him to understand.

As it turned out, resurrecting someone wasn't simple.

First, the person being resurrected had to have an intact corpse. Not a single bone could be missing. Missing an arm or a leg was out of the question, and even a missing finger wouldn't do.

Second, the resurrection had to take place at an altar, and five Priests had to cast Resurrection spell together.

Third, Resurrection spell required special materials as a medium, and those materials were extremely rare and expensive. In short, you could be resurrected, but it'd cost you!

On top of that, anyone who came back to life would lose levels and suffer a six-month period of weakness. During that time, they'd have to stay in bed and be treated to plenty of good food and drink.

But after resurrection, all the wounds on their body would heal completely, without even a trace of stitches left behind.

After learning all this, Sun Busong grew even more attached to the Super Soul Stone in his backpack.

"All right, that's everything. Now sit up straight. I'm going to cast Purification spell on you and get rid of any illnesses in your body."

Once Sun Busong sat up straight, Suya began casting the spell.

A string of incantations spilled from Suya's lips. A breeze slowly wrapped around Sun Busong, warm and gentle, like the spring sun. It made him want to close his eyes and fall asleep.

The spell ended soon enough. Sun Busong didn't hurry to open his eyes. Instead, he slowly savored that wonderful feeling in his mind.

But it didn't last long.

"Get up! Are you slacking off again? I really don't know how that old man Hanyi taught you. If it were my old man, he'd have beaten you black and blue by now."

Suya shook him so hard that Sun Busong nearly felt his body coming apart. She had no idea how to treat someone gently.

When she saw Sun Busong open his eyes in a panic and scramble to his feet, her gaze showed a mixture of pity and contempt for the weak.

Before Sun Busong could say a word, Suya grabbed him and quickly dragged him away.

"Big Sis, Big Sis, take it easy! Could you let go? You're hurting me! Where are we going?"

Sun Busong struggled and begged as they went, but it was all in vain.

Suya didn't care what he said. As she dragged him along, she told him, "Uncle Hanyi is too busy, so he's put you in my hands. From now on, you'll do as I say. I don't care about the blacksmithing. Your task today is to kill ten Stonejaw."

"What?!"

Sun Busong knew about the Stonejaw. The original owner's memories of those creatures were still vivid.

These humanoid monsters lived in Cold Ridge Valley. They were omnivores and had eaten plenty of the small animals in the valley.

They were a little taller than the Dwarf race and had hardly an ounce of flesh on their bodies. Their skin was blue, their tusks protruded, and they had three toes on each foot.

They weren't very strong. They often carried bones as weapons, and they were bullies who picked on the weak. If they encountered someone they couldn't beat, they ran. They also tended to roam around in groups.

Once, the original owner of this body had encountered a Stonejaw while out alone. He was only seven at the time and shorter than the Stonejaw. Seeing him all by himself, the creature hid behind a tree and ambushed him.

If he hadn't run fast and later encountered some mountaineers, then Sun Busong wouldn't have had the chance to transmigrate into this world.

After being rescued, he'd needed a full week before he could get out of bed. His injuries had healed, but the memory still hurt.

"I'm not going! I'm not going! I'd rather die than go!"

Those words hadn't really come from Sun Busong. They'd slipped out because of the lingering memories in his body.

"What are you afraid of? I'm here. You won't get hurt. If you're a Dwarf man, you have to kill ten of them today. Don't make me look down on you."

This time, Sun Busong didn't say anything. He could feel the last bit of control left in his body slowly fading away.

The original owner had left this world for good, leaving only his memories behind. His fear, sadness, and cowardice had all disappeared with him.

After dragging Sun Busong along for a while, Suya realized the person behind her had stopped making those pitiful, wailing cries. He wasn't struggling anymore, either. She stopped and turned to look into his eyes.

"Why'd you stop shouting?"

Sun Busong simply met her gaze without speaking.

Suya studied him for a few moments. Her eyes showed approval and encouragement, and then she said, "Looks like you've figured it out. Good! That's more like it. That's how a Dwarf man should act."

"Hahaha, kid, starting today, your life is going to take off! And I'll be your guide!"

Sun Busong's life really did start that day, but he didn't think the word "glorious" suited him.

He was going to conquer the world!

Without Suya having to drag him along, Sun Busong followed behind her. The two of them soon reached an area where the Stonejaw often appeared.

"Busong, don't be afraid. I'm here. You're still just a commoner, but you can definitely take down these trashy Stonejaw. Here, take this. Uncle Hanyi asked me to give it to you."

As she spoke, she handed Sun Busong a longsword.

Busong took the sword and looked it over.

Commoner's Sword: Item Level 3. One-handed Sword, 1–2 damage, speed 2.8 (Damage Per Second 0.6)

What the heck was this?

Seeing the look of disdain on Sun Busong's face, Suya spoke up. "I know you think this equipment is terrible, but you need to understand your status. You're just a commoner right now. You can only change class and become a professional once you reach level ten."

"Once you do, you can find a specialized instructor and learn skills suited to your talents or interests. That's how you become a professional. But right now, you can only use weapons like this. Even if you wanted a better standard-issue weapon, you wouldn't be able to lift it."

When she saw the confused look Sun Busong gave her, Suya shook her head in exasperation, then took out another weapon.

Double-edged Scimitar: Item Level 16. One-handed Sword. 3–5 damage. Speed 1.6 (Damage Per Second 2.2)

A line of text appeared at the very bottom of the weapon.

Required Level 11!

"Get it now? These weapons have requirements. If you haven't reached the required level, you can't even pick one up!"

"I see!"

Sun Busong understood. Wasn't this just like the restrictions in games?

If a level-one newbie could walk out the door with a badass level-ninety-nine weapon and kill level-twenty monsters with a single thrust—and do the same to level-thirty monsters—wouldn't that ruin the game's balance?

Once he understood, Busong gripped the Commoner's Sword and said to Suya, "Big Sis Suya, I understand now. Should we get started?"

Seeing how Sun Busong was acting now, Suya smiled and encouraged him. "You don't have to worry about a thing. I'll cast a Magic Shield on you, so the Stonejaw won't be able to hurt you. Go ahead and hack away without fear."

"Okay, here I go!"

With a look of fearless resolve, Sun Busong walked straight into the cave ahead without looking back. Suya followed at a distance, keeping watch over him.

He hadn't been inside the cave long before he ran into the first monster he'd encountered in this world: a Stonejaw Invader!

Aside from the weapon in his hand, he had almost no defensive gear on. He was wearing the Blacksmith Apprentice Uniform Set.

But this wasn't the time to be a coward. He was about to shout—

No, wait. Shouting inside someone else's cave was something an idiot would do.

He stopped, pressed his back against the wall, gripped the Commoner's Sword tightly, and held his breath as he waited for the patrolling monster to approach.

Just as the footsteps across from him were about to reach his position, a shield suddenly appeared around him.

Power Word: Shield!

The shield had arrived just in time, right at the crucial moment. The Stonejaw Invader spotted Sun Busong and charged at him—and that was when the shield appeared.

With the shield protecting him, Sun Busong immediately grew bolder. He raised his sword and brought it down on the creature's head.

The fight was over quickly. If a level-one monster could kill a transmigrator, then it would be the protagonist.

After killing the Stonejaw Invader, Sun Busong saw a glimmer of light coming from the corpse. Could this be the legendary loot? He grinned, crouched down, and started feeling around the body.

Sun Busong found four Copper Coin on the Stonejaw Invader's corpse, and his experience increased by ten points.

He needed 100 experience to reach level two, which meant he only had to kill nine more Stonejaw Invader to level up.

But what good was leveling up?

Killing a hundred to get a stat point was what really mattered. Fortunately, Sun Busong had to choose whether or not to level up himself. It wouldn't happen automatically.

"First, I'll kill enough to get one attribute point."

With Suya supporting him from behind, Sun Busong's first battle on the Azeroth Continent got underway in full force.

Three hours later, Sun Busong took the bread and water Suya handed him and sat on the ground, wolfing them down to replenish his strength.

In those three hours, he'd killed ninety-nine Stonejaw Invader. He'd had enough experience for a long time, but he'd stayed at level one the whole time instead of leveling up, all for that one Free Attribute Point.

"What's gotten into you today? Why are you fighting so hard? Did you take the wrong medicine? Just keeping your shield up has nearly drained all my mana."

Looking at Sun Busong, who was like a completely different person from before, Suya didn't suspect anything. She just thought the kid had finally awakened. It was a good thing—and she'd helped him awaken, which made her feel as if she'd saved the whole world.

"Hehe, I don't know what's gotten into me, either. I just want to kill them all. But I really am tired today. My hand hurts so much I can barely lift my sword. Let's go back after I kill just one more, okay?"

Kind-hearted Big Sis Suya readily agreed.

But Sun Busong had already killed every Stonejaw Invader in the cave. There wasn't a single living creature left to find.

They searched for almost half an hour without finding even one, so they decided to leave the cave first.

To their surprise, just as they emerged from the cave, a clueless Shaggy Young Wolf appeared right in front of them.

These beasts were also native to Cold Ridge Valley, though there weren't many of them.

The moment Sun Busong saw the Shaggy Young Wolf, he went berserk. Laughing, he raised his sword and charged at it as fast as he could, stabbing it straight in the belly.

But the Shaggy Young Wolf was a level-three beast. That one blow wasn't enough to kill it. The situation immediately turned around. Sun Busong curled his arms tightly over his face while the Shaggy Young Wolf savagely tore at his clothes.

By the time Suya came to her senses and knocked the Shaggy Young Wolf dead with a club, Sun Busong was already lying in a pool of blood.

But he'd gotten that one Free Attribute Point.

Slaughter: Artifact, Item Level 1 (Sealed; one seal removed every twenty levels), Necklace, binds when equipped, cannot be traded or discarded. Growth Artifact. The more monsters or enemies you kill, the faster Slaughter grows. +1 Strength +1 Agility +1 Stamina Equipment: For every 100 enemies of the same level you kill, one Free Attribute Point is generated automatically. Free Attribute Points can be added to Strength, Agility, Stamina, Intelligence, or Spirit. (102/100)

So the kill count could carry over!
