The morning sun shone on the beach, and the first "Demon Expulsion Device" projectile cast a long shadow on the sand. Deren squatted down and tapped the metal shell with his fingers, making a crisp echo.
"It is filled with sand, and the weight simulates the final charge." Magni used a hammer to check the hinge of the tail wing one last time, "The structure is complete and ready for trial casting." He nodded with satisfaction, his beard still stained with the ale foam from this morning.
Onyxia has transformed into a dragon shape, and its pitch-black scales glowed purple in the sunlight. She paved the beach impatiently with her paws, and each blow made the ground tremble slightly. "Hurry up, I am not your porter."
Black Dragon's voice was like rolling thunder, and the golden vertical pupils flashed with dangerous light.
Deren directed Jaina to use magic to lift the bomb to Onyxia's claws. Fine beads of sweat oozed from the young mage's forehead, and the huge weight of the bomb was rapidly consuming her mana.
Black Dragon grabbed the specially designed sling ring on the bomb with his hind paws, and his wings stirred up a strong wind, causing pebbles on the beach to fly everywhere.
"The target is the beach with a red circle one kilometer away." Deren pointed into the distance, "Try to hit the target as accurately as possible."
Onyxia sneered, "I am Black Dragon, not a trebuchet. I try my best to hit the bull's-eye." After saying that, she suddenly fluttered her wings and flew into the air. Sand and dust flew up, so that Deren had to raise his hands to cover his eyes. His clothes were instantly covered with sand.
Jaina first used a Clean Spell to clean off the dust and sand on Deren's body, and then looked up at the increasingly smaller dragon shadow, with its long golden hair flying in the wind. "Do you think it can succeed?"
"Theoretically it's feasible." Deren squinted his eyes, "The tail design should be able to ensure a stable fall, as for the accuracy." He scratched his head uneasily, saying that he couldn't guarantee it.
His words were interrupted by a dragon roar from high in the sky. Onyxia's figure climbed up in the air, then swooped down, and then a black spot separated from her claws - the bomb was released.
Deren immediately took out the monocular telescope and observed. At first, the bomb's trajectory seemed to be very positive, and the tail remained stable. But soon, the missile began to rotate, drawing a dangerous arc.
Deren's heartbeat accelerated, and he noticed that a hinge of the tail wing seemed to be deformed.
"Something's wrong!" Magni exclaimed, and the dwarf's keen eyesight had already discovered the problem, "It's moving towards us!"
In Deren's telescope, the black spot of the bomb was magnifying at an alarming speed. The blood all over his body seemed to freeze instantly - the bomb was heading straight for them!
"Spread out!" Deren yelled, but it was too late. The bomb was less than 300 meters away from the ground, and the whistling sound was clearly audible. The fear between life and death overwhelmed him like a tide.
At the critical moment, Jaina's staff burst out with a dazzling blue light. She pushed forward with both hands, and a strong air flow spurted out with her as the center, forming a wind wall visible to the naked eye. The moment the bomb hit the wind wall, its trajectory was significantly deflected. The metal shell made a strange sound as it rubbed against the magic energy.
"Bang--!!!"
The impact occurred on the sea less than fifty meters away from the team, and the water column was aroused to a height of twenty meters. The salty and wet seawater fell like a torrential rain, pouring on everyone.
Deren's notebook was soaked instantly, the ink smudged, and several days of hard work were wiped out.
Chromie appeared behind Deren at some point, holding a handful of nuts in his hand and chewing them loudly. With a naughty smile on his face, "Wow, it was almost a 'precision hit'."
Deren wiped the seawater from his face and turned to look at Jaina. His eyes were not frustrated at all, but instead shone with excitement. "What did you just do?"
Jaina's staff was still glowing slightly. She was panting and her chest was heaving violently. "It's just a simple Wind Barrier. I didn't expect it to be so effective."
Her fingertips were still trembling slightly, and it was obvious that she had been frightened just now.
Onyxia landed on the beach and turned back into human form, with a bit of embarrassment on his face. "That thing is harder to control than I thought."
She uncomfortably straightened the folds on her black leather armor, avoiding everyone's gaze.
Deren didn't seem to hear Black Dragon's explanation. He walked quickly to Jaina and grabbed her shoulders with both hands. "You can control the trajectory of the bomb!" His eyes were so bright that he seemed to have discovered a new world.
"Maybe!" Jaina suddenly became a little squirmy, her cheeks flushed, Deren's close contact obviously made her a little uncomfortable.
Onyxia crossed her arms and said, "Is it okay?!" Her voice was filled with annoyance of being ignored.
In the temporary wooden house, Deren was scribbling wildly on a blackboard, while Magni and Jaina stood on both sides, giving suggestions from time to time.
The wooden wall is covered with various design drawings and calculation drafts, and semi-finished parts and tools are piled in the corner.
"If Jaina's wind magic can affect the falling bomb," Deren drew a curve and a simple drawing of a mage, "Then theoretically, she can fully control the trajectory and final impact point of the bomb."
Magni stroked his beard. "But the control field of view is limited on the ground. If you can control it in the air," his voice drawled, leaving Deren room to think.
Deren turned around suddenly and drew a white line in the air with chalk. "That's right! Jaina can ride on the back of Onyxia! It's best to ride on the neck with a wide field of vision." This idea made him so excited that he took a few steps back and forth.
Jaina's face turned pale instantly. "What? Riding on a dragon?"
"Perfect air guidance system!" Deren was completely immersed in his own idea, dancing and making famous gestures, "You use Eagle Eye to observe the target at high altitude, use wind magic to fine-tune the trajectory of the bomb, and Onyxia is responsible for transportation and delivery."
He spoke so fast that it was almost inaudible.
The blackboard in front of Deren was pushed away violently, and Onyxia had an angry look on his face. "You want me to be your mount?! Are you crazy?"
Deren was well prepared and hurriedly posted it. He didn't know what he said, but he seemed to have agreed to an incredible condition. Onyxia's anger obviously weakened, and he finally nodded reluctantly. "Just this time."
Then her eyes stayed on Jaina for a moment, with some mischievous expectation.
Jaina is still pale. "I have never ridden a dragon."
"It's much easier than riding a horse." Chromie appeared floating next to Jaina's head at some point, chewing an apple, "Just don't look down."
"How can you control the bomb without looking down?" Jaina asked strangely, frowning.
"Uh!" Bronze Dragon's expression was stunned.
After two hours of hard work, Jaina put on Deren's special leather saddle and safety belt, climbed up Onyxia's dragon's neck with fear, and then installed the saddle..Black Dragon's scales are warmer than expected, but the edges of each scale are so sharp that they can cut the skin. Sitting here, you can easily watch the falling process of the bomb downwards. But it also puts the observer's psychology to a great test.
"Hold on, little Princess." Onyxia smiled maliciously, "I hope you're not afraid of heights." Her voice was full of the joy of being about to play a prank.
Without waiting for Jaina to answer, Black Dragon jumped up suddenly, spread its wings, and Jaina's screams were drowned by the howling wind. The ground quickly became smaller, and Deren and Magni soon became two small dots.
Jaina felt his stomach churning and had to hold on to the dragon scale tightly, his face turning pale.
"Eagle Eagle Eye!" Jaina luckily did not forget his duty and cast the spell tremblingly. His vision suddenly became clear, and the red circle of the target in the distance seemed to be right in front of him.
Onyxia was hovering thousands of meters high in the sky, and the air flow was blowing Jaina's long hair. "Are you ready?" Black Dragon's voice echoed in the wind, with excitement about wanting to try.
Jaina took a deep breath, felt the thin air in the sky, and responded forcefully, "That's it!"
Her heart slowly calmed down and her eyes became firm. She was the ruler of Princess of Kul Tiras, Archmage of Dalaran, and Theramore. Riding a dragon at high altitude was not an insurmountable difficulty.
She also knew that below, there was a pair of expectant eyes looking up at the sky, waiting for this hopeful experiment.
First update, thank you all for your support, please vote, collect, and read.
The poem goes: I only knew how to collect well, but now I know how to pursue the wonderful things. I started writing books because there were few people, and I was troubled by coding day and night. I don't ask for platinum and a wide audience, I just want my thoughts to be known to others. Two thousand collections are my friends. I update two chapters a day and don't care for my old age.
I was bald, so I communicated with the editor. He estimated that the data was just like this, and it wouldn't increase much, so it could be put on the shelf. I said I would wait until this week to see if it was still not good, and put it on the shelf next week. I would continue to save the manuscript. It was the first time I wrote a book, and I felt dizzy while coding. I had to read it twice and proofread it carefully before publishing it. It was indeed something I didn't expect. Fortunately, I already had the outline of the story, and I should be able to finish it.. After the battle of Dalaran, it will be the plot of Theramore's Fall. What is the fate of Jaina? More historical celebrities will appear, and it will become more and more exciting. I will make a preview, so stay tuned! PS: Send the saved manuscript to Yuanbao as the Qidian editor for analysis, and the result is that there is a "ten thousand orders" - it is really the king of support.
