Becoming Friends

Although the Watchers Council had made its decision, an alliance was no small matter, and they naturally had to inform Leiluo. So, just as the Horde's army set out from Ratchet for Quel'Thalas, a ship also departed from Ratchet. It had been sent specifically to report the news to Leiluo.

Someone special had set out on that ship as well: Alleria's younger sister, Vereesa.

Vereesa hadn't gone back. First, she didn't want to; second, Alleria wanted her to stay here so Quel'Thalas could communicate with the Horde in a timely manner.

The reason Vereesa was sailing to Northrend was that the High Elves had left a Rune Stone for instant communication in Orgrimmar, and she needed to deliver one to Leiluo.

But after ten days at sea, Vereesa still hadn't found Leiluo in Alterac Mountains, the new settlement the Orcs had built in Northrend. That was because Leiluo was currently with Illidan, who had set out to attack Icecrown Glacier.

Although Leiluo already had his own ideas about how to win Illidan over, the proud Illidan wasn't someone just anyone could meet. For one thing, he would never acknowledge anyone weaker than himself.

After Leiluo challenged Illidan to a fight and played to his interests, the friendship between the two men quickly took root.

Still, no matter how much Leiluo and Illidan felt they'd found a kindred spirit in each other, Leiluo had made no progress in his plan to recruit Illidan. Illidan was wholly devoted to pursuing power and had made the destruction of the Burning Legion his life's dream. He knew better than anyone the Burning Legion's power, and Kil'jaeden's in particular. So Illidan firmly believed he had to remain allied with the Burning Legion for now.
