History

Refuge and alliance

As Stormwind fell to the Orcs, its leaders planned to send Queen Talia and Prince Varian to Lordaeron and seek reinforcements there 138 139. Muradin Bronzebeard also came to Lordaeron City to request aid for Ironforge. Terenas II agreed to help, but asked for six months to prepare an army 160.

Lothar later arrived with Stormwind refugees and met the human kings at Lordaeron's royal palace. They discussed an alliance to drive the Orcs out of Stormwind and selected Lothar to command its united army 162 164.

Siege of Lordaeron

When Orc forces threatened the city, Lothar urged Terenas II to call on the other kingdoms. Terenas refused, insisting that Lordaeron could defend itself 230 231. He later took control of the city's defenses from Lothar and replaced Lothar's deployments before the Orc assault 276.

Orcs and Trolls fought their way onto the walls and threatened the outer city. Lothar rallied the defenders into organized ranks, while Terenas joined the fighting and proposed a retreat toward the inner city 283 284. After the battle, Lothar again argued that Lordaeron needed reinforcements from other kingdoms 287. The city subsequently celebrated the defeat of the Troll invasion 337.

After the war

Lordaeron City received the procession carrying Lothar's body; its residents mourned him openly 440. Terenas later devoted himself to rebuilding Lordaeron 584.

Scourge attack

Arthas returned to Lordaeron City at the head of a disciplined army and was welcomed by its citizens. When Terenas removed his son's helmet, Arthas killed him with Frostmourne. Arthas's forces seized the gates and attacked the royal palace. The assault left the city devastated; Queen Lianne was killed, and Calia Menethil went missing 618.
