What could make someone lose the ability to move without killing them?

The answer was simple: poison.

Poisons in this world were generally made from various herbs.

As long as you figured out the poison's formula, you could develop an antidote.

But none of that was a problem for Gu Qi. He was planning to make chemical gas.

Mustard gas, for example, worked through the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. It was an excellent choice.

Inhaling even a small amount of mustard gas could cause general discomfort, vomiting, depression, drowsiness, and other symptoms of central nervous system suppression and parasympathetic nervous system excitation.

Severe poisoning could even result in death.

Most importantly, mustard gas had no specific antidote.

But that wasn't a problem for Gu Qi.

After all, he had Secret Brew. And as long as he used a small dose, there shouldn't be any serious issues.

Making mustard gas was a little troublesome, but fortunately, the laboratory had all the equipment and materials he needed.

Gu Qi got straight to work. He didn't bother going to the lab in the other dimension; instead, he started working in the underground laboratory.

He didn't dare make too much. After producing about one thousand milligrams of liquid mustard gas, he began using it to set up traps.

Once he was done, Gu Qi left the laboratory building.

The stump was already in place. Now all that remained was to see when some unlucky rabbit would stumble into it.

The next morning, after checking his traps, Gu Qi headed for the Inuzuka Clan compound with the three useless Ninja Dogs.

Gu Qi had realized that since he hadn't been keeping an eye on the three of them lately, they'd started getting out of hand.

If he kept letting them run wild, they'd end up completely useless.

So this time, he was determined to have the Inuzuka Clan put them through a proper training regimen for a while. At the very least, they should be able to bark when someone broke in.

That was only part of the reason. More importantly, Gu Qi was doing this to protect them.

If the three Ninja Dogs accidentally wandered into the traps after they were triggered, things could end badly.

"Don't worry, Gu Qi. In three days, I'll have these three completely transformed." After taking Gu Qi's money, Hana Inuzuka patted her ample chest.

Gu Qi glanced at the three trembling little dogs. "Train them hard. I don't care if they get hurt."

His words only made the three Ninja Dogs even more frightened.

"Don't worry. I'll take good care of them."

Gu Qi nodded, then said to Hachi and the others, "Be good and listen. I'll come get you in three days."

With that, Gu Qi firmly abandoned the three foolish dogs as they gave him wounded looks.

Gu Qi spent most of the day out and about.

He either trained, coached Naruto, or wandered around eating.

It wasn't until evening that he finally returned home.

Once he was back, Gu Qi put on the protective suit and mask he'd prepared beforehand, then leisurely made his way to the laboratory building.

As soon as he opened the door, a figure lunged at him.

He easily sidestepped, heard a heavy thud, and watched the other person hit the ground in front of him.

After checking that the person was still breathing, Gu Qi hoisted him onto his shoulder and tossed him into the courtyard.

He continued into the laboratory building. Just as he'd expected, several people were lying inside.

After carrying them all out into the courtyard, Gu Qi examined them one by one.

Whenever he found someone in serious condition, he casually injected them with a little Secret Brew.

Who said alcohol had to be drunk? Gu Qi had found that injecting Secret Brew directly worked much better than drinking it.

After checking everyone, Gu Qi found at least three groups.

Anbu, Root, and a few Konoha Ninja he'd never heard of.

As for how Gu Qi could tell Anbu and Root apart, that was easy: he just had to look at their masks.

Anbu masks were generally shaped like animals, while Root masks came in a wider variety.

Most of the people there belonged to Anbu and Root. There were only two other Ninja.

Gu Qi guessed that the two unknown Ninja were probably pawns Orochimaru had left behind in Konoha.

"Now that the actors on this side are in place, it's time to let the others know they should show up too."

As he spoke, Gu Qi silently took out a shell designed for a Railgun.

Unlike other shells, this one didn't use the usual impact fuse. It had a delayed fuse that Gu Qi had designed himself.

The shell would activate as soon as it was electrified, so it would be triggered immediately when it passed through the electromagnetic coil.

Once activated, it would set off the explosives inside at the designated time and detonate the shell.

Gu Qi slowly raised his right hand toward the sky and stylishly launched the shell.

Boom!

The explosion startled countless people from their dreams.

"Gu Qi, what's going on? What did you do?"

When Kakashi followed the sound to Gu Qi's courtyard, he saw Gu Qi surrounded by Anbu and Root members and couldn't help asking him.

Gu Qi spread his hands. "I didn't do anything. I just don't know why all these people suddenly showed up in my laboratory. I was worried they had accomplices, so I sent up a signal to call for help."

Kakashi's eye twitched. He knew Gu Qi had done it on purpose.

There was a good chance Gu Qi was actually responsible for all these unconscious Anbu.

But there were too many people around. Kakashi raised his eyebrows at Gu Qi and said nothing more.

"Looks like the old man's going to have a headache," Asuma murmured with a hint of amusement from behind the crowd of onlookers.

"Kakashi, Anbu is pursuing several foreign spies. They entered your laboratory without permission. Sorry for the trouble."

Just as the crowd of onlookers was growing, an Anbu Captain appeared in front of Gu Qi in a flash.

Gu Qi shrugged and said indifferently, "No problem! If you were carrying out a mission, it's nothing to worry about."

"Thank you. Take them away." The Anbu Captain nodded to Gu Qi, then ordered the nearby Anbu and Root members to carry the people in the courtyard away.

The other Ninja saw there was no more excitement to watch and left one by one.

Only some of Kakashi's friends stayed behind with him.

"You can all go back," Kakashi said, giving Might Guy and the others a slight nod when they didn't leave.

"Are you sure everything's fine? The old man can be pretty vindictive," Asuma said around his cigarette.

Kakashi shook his head and pointed at Gu Qi, who looked utterly harmless. "If this guy isn't worried, it means everything is under control. Don't worry. It'll be fine."

"All right, then. Just let us know if you need anything."

Since Kakashi put it that way, Asuma nodded and left.

Might Guy and the others didn't say anything, but the looks they gave Kakashi before leaving said it all.

Once everyone else had left, Kakashi turned his gaze to Gu Qi.
