I'm Reporting Them for Cheating!

"We don't need to wait for the next exam..."

The Sound Ninja swayed as he moved, about to attack Kazeka.

"I'll show you what I can do!"

"Quiet, all of you! You bunch of good-for-nothings!"

A sharp shout cut off the Sound Ninja. In a puff of smoke, Konoha's examiner, Morino Ibiki, appeared above the podium.

He was a man wearing a black trench coat and a black headwrap.

The only part of his face left exposed was covered in scars. He looked like a ninja who had endured hellish interrogations.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm Morino Ibiki, the examiner for the first Chunin Selection Exam. You Sound Ninja..."

As a Jonin, Morino Ibiki took control of the situation as soon as he arrived. Looking at the arrogant Sound Ninja, he immediately barked at them.

"Don't cause trouble before the exam. Do you want to be disqualified right now?"

"Sorry. It's our first exam, so we're especially excited..."

Though they were unhappy about being scolded, they still had to show him some respect.

Their expressions didn't show much respect, but they gave Ibiki his due in their words.

"We just got a little carried away..."

"This is a good opportunity to make things clear. I'll explain the rules..."

After hearing the Sound Ninja's response, Ibiki continued.

"Do not fight without the examiner's permission. Even with permission, you may not do anything that could kill your opponent.

"Any idiots who dare defy me will be disqualified immediately. Understood?"

Seeing that the room had quieted down and all the Genin had taken their seats in an orderly fashion, Ibiki stopped wasting time and went straight into the exam rules.

The first exam was a written test, and the rules were simple. There were four in total:

First, there were ten questions. Each wrong answer cost one point.

Second, scores were calculated based on the combined total of each three-person team.

Third, each time a cheater was caught, their team lost two points.

Fourth, if anyone scored zero, the entire team was eliminated.

Kazeka looked at the test paper in his hands. For him, it was as easy as one plus one equaling two.

But for the other Genin, the material was a little too advanced.

Combined with the rules, and the fact that several ninja had immediately started writing without even hesitating, it was obvious that the exam was meant to test their ability to cheat. In other words, it was testing their ability to gather information!

Kazeka clenched his fist. When he opened it again, two strange creations had appeared in his hand.

Kazeka called them "Eye Spiders," and the name described them perfectly.

Each had a big, watery eye, with three pairs of spider legs growing from its underside to propel it forward.

One of the Eye Spiders scurried across the desk and up a wall, surveying the entire room like a security camera.

The other eye slipped inside Kazeka's collar.

A section of nerve extended from the eye and its legs, piercing Kazeka's neck and connecting to his optic nerve!

With that, Kazeka had access to a live feed of the entire room!

"I've been so busy lately that I forgot to test how well these things work. This is a pretty good chance to do it.

"Looks like these guys have all kinds of tricks..."

Kazeka filled in the answers on his test paper out of boredom while observing the entire room.

Shino Aburame, from his own village, was using the Kikaichū inside his body to relay information.

Hinata was using the Byakugan's ability to see through things to get the answers.

Sasuke was using the Sharingan's copying ability to obtain information.

Even Tenten, who didn't have any special ninjutsu, had quietly set up several mirrors on the ceiling using her skill.

She was using threads to move them around and observe the information in the room.

The ninja from other villages were showing off their own tricks too, from the Puppet Technique to using birdsong outside the windows and everything in between.

The variety of techniques made Kazeka nod again and again, giving him plenty of ideas for experiments.

The one who left Kazeka speechless was Naruto!

The guy had spent quite a while in his Laboratory and had seen all sorts of novel gadgets.

But he had only found them interesting. He had never thought to ask for them or learn similar techniques.

So, all he had gained was more training in Chakra and Taijutsu. Nothing else.

Even Kiba Inuzuka, though he hadn't taken part in Kazeka's experiments, had shamelessly begged him for a few things.

Though all he'd gotten were dog bells, custom-made dog lingerie, black stockings, and the like...

So now Naruto could only watch helplessly as everyone else showed off their skills, while he scratched his head in despair!

Hinata was sitting next to Naruto, and clearly, she couldn't bear to watch him looking so helpless.

But she had no intention of letting Naruto copy her answers.

Hinata had understood the exam rules from the start.

Even if she let Naruto copy, the worst that would happen was losing two points. It wouldn't affect the team much.

However, after all those experiments with Kazeka, Hinata had not only improved her combat strength but also changed quite a bit as a person.

She wasn't dark and twisted all the time, but she was much less timid. Most importantly, she had developed an intolerance for stupidity!

As a result, she liked Naruto less and less.

Watching Naruto glance around in the desperate hope of getting the answers, she narrowed her eyes and moved her test paper farther away from him!

Naruto: "..."

If Naruto was feeling utterly hopeless, Dosu of the Sound Ninja was feeling quite pleased.

He had also figured out the true purpose of the exam right away.

He and his teammates were using sound to pass information back and forth. They had not only gotten the answers but also realized the exam would eliminate a lot of ninja.

If the first exam was this easy, then he felt a lot more at ease about the ones that followed!

But it wasn't long before he felt like swearing!

"Examiner, I'm reporting someone for cheating!"

Watching Kazeka stand up and point straight at him, Dosu was completely dumbfounded.

"Seems like there's no reward for reporting someone in the rules, is there?"

Kazeka's move had not only left Dosu dumbfounded. Even the head examiner, Morino Ibiki, looked surprised.

But he quickly returned to his poker-faced expression.

"Understood. Sound Ninja, two points deducted. Candidate, sit down and continue the exam!"

"Examiner, are you just going to let it end there?"

Kazeka had no intention of sitting down. Instead, while Dosu wore an expression like he'd just seen the worst thing imaginable, Kazeka spoke righteously.

"Since we've caught him cheating, we should confiscate his tools.

"The little flute they're using to pass information is far too obvious. Shouldn't they have to hand that over too?

"And the Sound Ninja..."

Kazeka turned to look at Dosu and spoke with a sneer as Dosu glared at him like he was a complete bastard.

"With such a crude method of cheating, I doubt you'd have the nerve to use it again, would you?"
