Forest Wilderness Survival

Jerry had prepared himself before coming here! But after arriving in the forest, he realized he had nothing at all. This was practically a real-life wilderness survival scenario! Jerry had watched plenty of survival shows in his past life, but many of them had been largely staged. Now that he was facing the wilderness himself, he understood just how difficult it was.

The first thing they needed to solve was housing—the so-called shelter! Jerry and Xiao Wu were both Soul Masters and had plenty of stamina. With the Titan Giant Ape, a super lumberjack with practically unlimited strength, they quickly gathered enough wood to build a house! And the Titan Giant Ape really was absurdly fast at cutting down trees—one kick, one tree!

With their great stamina, they worked quickly and soon built a small Wooden House by the lake! Jerry had originally wanted to make it prettier, but the reality was that he knew nothing about carpentry or house design. He had plenty of ideas, but in the end, he built a flat-roofed Wooden House. He had wanted to make a triangular roof, but after trying a few times and failing miserably, he simply laid down a layer of wooden planks and covered them with large leaves. The bed was even simpler. Since the trees here were so huge, Jerry simply sawed a large Wooden Stake into a rectangular block and called it a bed. Bedding and other daily necessities had all been bought beforehand, and he had carried a huge pack on his back. After all, Jerry did not have any Space Equipment! Otherwise, he would have bought even more.

Then, he took Er Ming to clear a patch of wasteland and planted the vegetable and grain seeds they had brought with them!

One advantage of this world was that Soul Power filled every corner of it. Most of what plants absorbed as they grew was Soul Power from the soil, rather than fertilizers like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from Jerry's previous life. For any plant, absorbing sufficient Soul Power could allow it to grow into a Soul Beast. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well was an exception; the terrain there was special, so even if plants grew for Ten Thousand Years, they would not become Soul Beasts.

Ordinary commoners did not use fertilizer, nor did they wait for Crops to absorb enough Soul Power to become Plant Type Soul Beasts before harvesting them! The fertilizer Jerry made accelerated the process by which plants absorbed Soul Power, which was why he had been able to cultivate Plant Type Soul Beasts before! He was not worried about having taught the villagers how to make fertilizer from Blue Silver Grass, because Blue Silver Grass contained very little Soul Power. Even when made into fertilizer, there was not much of it, and it could at most increase crop yields by a few tenths. For Crops to truly absorb Blue Silver Grass fertilizer and become Ten-Year Soul Beasts would probably take several years. Besides, Crops were harvested once a year, so they had no time to grow at all!

Looking at the house and vegetable plot, Jerry and Xiao Wu felt deeply satisfied. After all, they would be living here from now on, so they had to be self-sufficient!

Da Ming and Er Ming no longer needed to eat; cultivation alone kept them from getting hungry. That was why they had become one of Er Ming's favorite foods! Jerry and Xiao Wu were full after eating only a little, while Er Ming ate the rest. Afterward, Jerry gathered all the bones and pounded them into bone meal. He buried some in the vegetable plot, dug a large pit by the door to bury the rest, and then planted his Martial Soul on top of it! The Martial Soul could absorb it automatically, though if Jerry cultivated actively, it would be even faster!

When Er Ming saw what Jerry was doing, he asked him about it. Jerry told him that both the meat and bones of Soul Beasts contained Soul Power. After a Soul Beast died, most of its Soul Power condensed into a Soul Ring. If no one absorbed the Soul Ring, it would naturally dissipate, and the Soul Power would return to heaven and earth! Soul Beast meat and bones also contained some Soul Power. Eating Soul Beast meat could not only slightly strengthen the body but also speed up cultivation, which was why many Soul Masters made a living by hunting Soul Beasts. Soul Beast bones were too hard to eat and were useless to others, but for plants, once ground into powder, they became natural fertilizer, making them easier to absorb than Soul Power from the air! Some of the Fish Soul Beasts Xiao Wu and I caught at the village's Back Mountain had their meat shared with the villagers, while all the fish bones were used as fertilizer!
