Making Lightning Rods

Lightning body tempering was effective, but it took far too long!

The first thing Jerry thought of was a lightning rod. It could draw in nearby lightning and conduct it into the ground.

They had previously discovered iron ore in the Star Dou Great Forest, where a colony of Vajra Iron-Eating Ants lived. They fed on iron ore! As Metal-Attribute Soul Beasts, they were naturally able to control metal, though for now, they could only simply manipulate the iron element within the ore for the sake of eating it!

Er Ming brought Jerry near the iron ore mountain and found a Ten Thousand Year Vajra Iron-Eating Ant, asking it to gather some iron and shape it into needles. The Vajra Iron-Eating Ant quickly understood and immediately activated its ability. Countless tiny iron pellets flew out from the iron ore mountain ahead, slowly gathering together into a massive cylinder, pointed at one end and rounded at the other, about a hundred zhang long. Honestly, Jerry was envious of that ability. With powers like that, who needed a blacksmith? They then made ten more in succession. Taking the opportunity, Jerry had the Vajra Iron-Eating Ant make many things such as Weapons and Cookware. Thinking of Er Ming, he custom-made an enormous staff for him. Er Ming waved it around a few times after receiving it and found it quite handy. Sure enough, apes all liked staffs!

They then brought the lightning rods to the Lightning Attribute Area and found a suitable location. Jerry had Er Ming arrange them in a large circle and drive them directly into the ground. From then on, the area within the circle would be the place where Soul Beasts underwent tribulations. Once all the lightning rods had been erected, the sight was quite spectacular! Then they called over several Lightning-Attribute Flying Soul Beasts and had them strike the sky with lightning a few times to test it. Sure enough, before the lightning could reach the ground, it was drawn toward the nearby lightning rods and conducted underground. Even the surrounding soil seemed to carry a faint aura of lightning. At that moment, many Lightning-Attribute Plant Soul Beasts excitedly began absorbing the underground lightning with all their might, wasting none of it! Looking at the ten massive lightning rods, Jerry reckoned that all the lightning in this area would be drawn here in the future. This place would also become a Cultivation Holy Land for Lightning-Attribute Soul Beasts!

After seeing that the test had succeeded, Jerry worried that ten rods would not be enough. To be safe, he had Er Ming continue making and planting Pillars. Knowing that these Pillars would benefit Lightning-Attribute Soul Beasts, they eagerly joined in transporting and planting them. Soul Beasts truly were the best labor force. A week later, lightning rods had been planted all over the entire Lightning Area, densely packed as far as the eye could see!

Seeing that all the preparations were complete, Jerry decided it was time to visit the Sacred Light Unicorn!

After meeting the Sacred Light Unicorn, Jerry discovered that it was suppressing its cultivation, but wisps of Soul Power were still being instinctively absorbed. Judging by the situation, it probably would not be able to keep suppressing it for much longer! When that time came, it could only passively undergo the tribulation!

"Sacred Light Unicorn, you're about to lose control of your suppression, aren't you? I built a place to avoid lightning. Would you be willing to try it?" Jerry asked.

"So it's you, Star Dou Great Forest's Only Human Jerry. You led the Soul Beasts in development and increased the Soul Power Concentration throughout the forest fivefold, greatly improving the strength of the Soul Beasts. That is a good thing for most Soul Beasts, but for those of us who are about to break through to Hundred Thousand Year Soul Beasts, it is fatal! I could originally have suppressed it for over a hundred years, but now I can only hold on for a few years. I had already prepared myself to die. Now that you have built a place that can avoid lightning, I am willing to be the first to try it! If it succeeds, it will be a good thing for the entire Soul Beast world. Those other old fellows will dare to break through as well!" The Sacred Light Unicorn spoke quietly, its voice carrying both sorrow and hope. Over the years, it had seen too many Soul Beasts die beneath Thunder Tribulations and had long prepared itself for death. Now, Jerry had allowed it to see a sliver of hope.
