The days of cultivation flew by. In the blink of an eye, three months had passed, and Nuoding City's Junior Soul Master Academy was about to open.
Over those three months, Jerry cultivated diligently every day. But if hard work were enough in this world, what would talent be for? Living up to expectations, after three months of cultivation, his Soul Power was still only half a level!
Although his Soul Power had not increased, after awakening, the nourishment of Soul Power had greatly improved his physical condition. So it was not a total loss.
Jerry felt that beating Tang San now would be as easy as crushing a baby chick—provided Tang San did not run away.
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track truly left Jerry with no way to deal with him.
Everything was the same as in the Original Work. Old Jack led Tang San and Jerry on foot to Nuoding Academy.
At first glance, Nuoding City's Junior Soul Master Academy looked quite imposing. After all, the gates were the academy's face, so they were generally decorated with care.
As expected, they were obstructed by the gatekeeper at the entrance. Jerry had been waiting for Tang San to say, "You have already taken the path to death," but Tang San said nothing this time. Still, he touched his Sleeve Dart.
Then the fake Master, Yu Xiaogang, appeared "just in time," scolded the gatekeeper, and led Jerry and Tang San into Nuoding Academy.
Actually, Jerry had spotted him long ago. A dispirited middle-aged man with a crew cut, unshaven stubble, and a greasy look had been squatting by the entrance the whole time.
Halfway there, Master recited a classic piece of nonsense. "Blue Silver Grass... if I'm not mistaken, you also have a powerful Martial Soul."
But Tang San was no longer the Tang San he had once been. After bickering with Jerry every day, he was no longer the Tang San who wore every thought on his face.
"My Blue Silver Grass is mutated. Master, you guessed wrong. I do not have Twin Martial Souls," Tang San said calmly, though he thought, It seems this Master does have some ability. He actually guessed that I have Twin Martial Souls.
"Oh? Is that so?" Master frowned, somewhat doubtful of himself but still unwilling to give up. "May I see your Martial Soul?"
After Jerry had taught Tang San about Martial Souls, Tang San had also observed his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul himself.
His Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul was larger than the Blue Silver Grass Martial Souls awakened by the others in the village. It also possessed an exceptionally rich life aura, and the veins on its leaves were golden—something other Common Martial Souls of Blue Silver Grass did not have.
Hearing that Master wanted to see his Martial Soul, Tang San directly summoned Blue Silver Grass and pointed out the differences between his Martial Soul and those of others.
Master had indeed researched Blue Silver Grass before. People with Advanced Martial Souls were unwilling to let him study them, but Common Martial Souls were everywhere. Spend a little money, and someone would cooperate with him.
After observing Tang San's Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, he found that it truly differed greatly from others'. In the Original Work, Master Yu Xiaogang had not looked too closely, but this time, with Tang San's reminder, he examined it carefully and had nothing more to say.
Master was still somewhat unwilling to accept it. A disciple with Innate Full Soul Power, and one with such a useless Martial Soul as Blue Silver Grass—how perfectly suited he was to proving Master's theories.
With Innate Full Soul Power, even a useless Martial Soul could cultivate very quickly.
But Master did not know what else to say. Tang San saw his embarrassment and felt it was necessary to give him a reminder.
"Master, I know your theories, but you are looking in the wrong direction if you want to prove them."
"The wrong direction? What is wrong with it?"
"You should find someone with no Innate Soul Power, or someone whose Innate Soul Power is extremely low. If you can teach such a person successfully, the entire continent will probably acknowledge your theories."
"But you want to find students with good talent. Even if they achieve something in the future, others will only say they were naturally talented and would have succeeded under anyone's guidance. Master, think it over carefully!"
After Tang San finished speaking, Master was instantly stunned.
Master was not stupid. Could someone who compiled a set of Martial Soul cultivation materials be stupid? For all these years, he had worked behind closed doors by himself and gotten trapped in a dead end.
Tang San's reminder made Master feel as though he had been struck by enlightenment.
That's right. How had I never thought of that before?
And no one ever reminded me. So they had all been laughing at me!
Having figured it out, Master looked at Tang San.
"Thank you. You have resolved a confusion that has troubled me for many years. If you need any help at the academy in the future, you can come find me." With that, Master left without looking back.
Jerry watched it all, delighted beyond measure. The plan had succeeded!
Tang San, Master Yu Xiaogang had not taken you as his disciple. Let's see how you get through the early stages now. Jerry could not help wanting to sing, "The mountain roads here have eighteen bends, and the waterways here have nine loops."
Before long, the two completed their enrollment procedures and became proud Work-Study Students.
As expected, they moved into the Seventh Dormitory. Wang Sheng sparred with Tang San, and Wang Sheng lost.
Then a kawaii little girl appeared at the door. Dressed in pink, with a long braid and big eyes, she asked cutely, "Excuse me, is this the Seventh Dormitory?"
"Yes," Wang Sheng answered first.
"I'm also from the Seventh Dormitory. Great, I finally found the right place! My name is Xiao Wu, the Wu from dancing. Hello, everyone!" Xiao Wu said.
"Since you're new, let me tell you about a rule in our Seventh Dormitory. Whoever is strongest becomes the boss and leads us so we won't be bullied by the nobles!" Wang Sheng said.
"Great! Fighting is what I like best! Who am I competing with?"
"This is Tang San. He just defeated me, so he is the boss now. You need to challenge him!"
"Sure, here I come!"
Then Tang San and Xiao Wu began their match. Tang San lost!
"Little San, hahahaha! So you have this day too! Weren't you good at running? Why didn't you run? You met someone faster and had no way out, huh? Still feeling smug? You lost to a little girl, hahahaha!" Jerry said happily.
"Jerry, shut up!" Tang San said angrily.
"Hahaha! I told you to train your body with me, but you refused. Do you regret it now? Do you regret it?"
"I don't want to become some musclehead like you!" Tang San said.
Hearing Jerry and Tang San's exchange, Xiao Wu wanted to compete with Jerry too. But Jerry said he was not interested. He had no desire to bully a little girl, so he would not fight her.
Xiao Wu then became the boss of the Seventh Dormitory and made everyone call her Sister Xiao Wu!
To thank Tang San, Master sent over two sets of bedding this time. One set was for Jerry.
Jerry had originally been keeping a low profile and had no desire to draw attention to himself.
But when Xiao Wu learned that Jerry's Martial Soul was a carrot, she came over to him. Especially after Jerry gave her a carrot to eat, she immediately began relentlessly pestering him.
"Look, my Martial Soul is a rabbit, and yours is a carrot. Rabbits love eating carrots. We were born to be best friends."
Was that really the logic? The carrot was unwilling. "Eat me? You want to eat me and still be best friends with me?"
Xiao Wu had no bedding and shamelessly clung to Jerry. Tang San even watched from the side, enjoying the show. Jerry had no choice but to agree to Xiao Wu's request.
And so, Sister Xiao Wu successfully shared a bed with Jerry.
Whenever she had nothing to do, she would make Jerry give her carrots to eat. The carrots summoned by his Martial Soul really did taste better than ordinary ones.
Whenever Tang San saw Xiao Wu and Jerry together, he always felt as though he had lost something.
But seeing Xiao Wu constantly ask Jerry for carrots, and knowing Jerry only had half a level of Soul Power, she quickly drained all of Jerry's Soul Power.
With his Soul Power drained dry, Jerry was limp all over, sprawled on the bed like a dead fish. Tang San could not help feeling relieved when he saw this.
Good thing Sister Xiao Wu's rabbit likes carrots. If it liked Blue Silver Grass, wouldn't I be drained dry too?
At that thought, Tang San suddenly felt that rabbits and carrots were a perfect match. Then he happily made his bed!
Tang San, you truly had no idea what you had lost!
