Background / History
Tang San was a Tang Sect outer disciple who stole inner-sect manuals before falling from Ghost Worry Cliff; his soul later transmigrated into Tang Hao's son in Holy Soul Village. Jerry claims the infant's original life had already ended from the aftermath of a Titled Douluo battle, and that Tang Hao’s early coldness came from recognizing the abnormal recovery of the child’s life signs. 321
As a child, Tang San lived with his alcoholic father, Tang Hao. He was thin and undernourished, but kept his worn clothes clean. He valued having a father after his previous life as an orphan and sought ways to improve their meals through fishing and hunting. 2 His friendship with Jerry began through fishing, where Tang San forged hooks and later built weapons and exercise equipment at Jerry’s request. 2 4 5
Before his Martial Soul awakening, Tang San had already reached the first-layer limits of the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Demon Eye, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and Mysterious Jade Hand. Unable to progress further, he became impatient to awaken. 5 At six, he awakened Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power while secretly suppressing the manifestation of his Clear Sky Hammer. 6
At Nuoding Academy, Tang San became the Seventh Dormitory’s initial boss after defeating Wang Sheng, then lost the position to Xiao Wu. 8 Jerry’s earlier interference prevented Tang San from formally becoming Yu Xiaogang’s disciple, though Tang San and Yu developed a teacher-and-friend relationship. 20 Under academy guidance, Tang San acquired the Sword Bamboo ring that shaped his Blue Silver Grass into a Hidden Weapon-oriented Martial Soul. 9
After reaching level 30, Tang San absorbed a Vajra Bamboo ring and gained a defensive skill that complemented his leaf-based attacks. 45 Soon afterward, his Blue Silver Grass disappeared entirely. The Clear Sky Hammer became his only active Martial Soul, forcing him to rebuild his ring configuration from scratch; after acquiring three powerful hammer rings, he rose to level 37. 46
In later years, Tang San became increasingly disillusioned with the political powers unwilling to oppose Martial Soul Hall. He sought Sea God Island, joined the efforts of the Church of Light God, and learned cultivation methods and public knowledge released by Martial Soul Hall despite resenting the loss of his former advantages. 180 229 231
Tang San secretly attained godhood with his companions in the Extreme North. 245 After becoming a god, he returned to the Clear Sky Sect, suppressed its elders with his aura, and offered powerful pills to raise the sect’s strength. 300 He later attacked the armies of the two empires, but Zhu Zhuqing and Xue Ke revealed themselves as gods as well. Zhu Zhuqing shattered his Clear Sky Hammer and severely injured him before Yu Xiaogang rescued him. 309 310 311
Jerry eventually located Tang San in a hidden courtyard in Martial Soul City and revealed that they were both transmigrators. Tang San attempted to flee, then challenged Jerry to battle; Jerry overwhelmed his techniques and captured him. 321 322 323
Appearance
As a child, Tang San was plain-looking, thin, and visibly undernourished. He wore faded but clean cloth clothing and was notably more tidy than other village children. 2
- His appearance changed significantly after a bloodline awakening, to the point that Tang San’s childhood friend Jerry initially did not recognize him. 194
- When displaying his god-level power, he manifests a colossal Clear Sky Hammer phantom and ten Soul Rings. 300 309
Personality
Tang San is intensely private about the techniques and knowledge he carried from his former life. Despite years of friendship with Jerry, he repeatedly refused to pass on the Mysterious Heaven Skill or Tang Sect weapons. 5 He treats sect secrets as things that should not be leaked, a view he expressed even before encountering Yu Xiaogang’s theories. 5
He is ambitious, self-confident, and highly competitive. He was eager to become a Soul Master as a child, later pursued hidden Martial Soul Hall knowledge through infiltration, and continued studying alchemy and formations after failing to become a Soul Engineer. 5 231 259 260 His confidence can become arrogance: he struggled to accept his lack of Soul Engineering talent and overestimated his ability to rapidly advance in formations. 258 273
Tang San is also cautious and strategic when confronting stronger opponents. He delayed action against Martial Soul Hall to gather information, tried to draw allies to his battle with Jerry, and used a staged accident to obtain leave for treasure hunting. 243 273 322 However, setbacks—especially his defeat by Zhu Zhuqing and Jerry—force him to reassess his own limits. 311 323

- Sword Leaf — Fires armor-piercing leaves infused with sword energy; the leaves replenish through the Martial Soul and function as an effectively inexhaustible Hidden Weapon supply. 9
- Entanglement — Obtained from a 600-year-old Poison Vine; adds poison to the Blue Silver Grass, though Tang San rarely used the skill compared with Hidden Weapons. 20
- Vajra Protection — Defensive skill from a 1,300-year-old Vajra Bamboo; also made the Blue Silver Grass harder and sharper. 45
Clear Sky Hammer

Spiritual Power
After learning Jerry’s Visualization Method, Tang San’s Spiritual Power grew from 8,300 to 8,410 points in one week. 231
- His strong Spiritual Power lets him predict and evade large numbers of projectiles, including Zhu Zhuqing’s Ten Thousand Swords Volley. 310
- He recognizes Spiritual Power object manipulation as more practical and widely applicable than conventional Hidden Weapons. 231
- He considers the Visualization Method superior to Purple Demon Eye because it can be cultivated at any time and does not depend on exceptional talent. 231
Alchemy
Tang San found that he possessed aptitude for alchemy after failing to become a Soul Engineer. 259
- Refined Injury Recovery Pills, Recovery Pills, and Detoxification Pills from public formulas. 259
- Sought high-year medicinal ingredients and treasure lands to produce stronger pills. 259 260

- Successfully learned the Fireball Formation and later spent a month learning the offensive-defensive Fire Ring Formation. 260 261

- Prepared more than a dozen Magnetic Force Array plates, a level-seven formation he intended to use against Jerry. 273

Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father. Tang San treasured their hard-won family bond despite Tang Hao’s alcoholism and emotional distance. 2
- Jerry — Childhood fishing companion, fellow transmigrator, and eventual enemy. Jerry’s early interference altered Tang San’s path, while their final confrontation ends in Tang San’s capture. 2 321 323
- Yu Xiaogang — Teacher-and-friend rather than formal master in this timeline. Tang San later questions Yu’s teachings, argues with him over Soul Tool designs, and is ultimately rescued by him after defeat. 20 229 299 311
- Xiao Wu — Nuoding Academy classmate and Shrek teammate; she defeated Tang San to become the Seventh Dormitory’s boss. 8
