Slowly, the nostalgia on Colliver's face turned bitter. In a self-mocking tone, he said, "But even then, our chances against hundreds of high-ranking demons were still slim."

His gaze was distant. "If the lord hadn't fought with all his might and slain the demon commander, I'd have been buried twenty years ago."

"That powerful?" Renard asked in astonishment. "So the lord of the City of Abundance is a Legendary Warrior?"

"Exactly!" Colliver was filled with reverence and admiration. "Before a Legendary Warrior, even Battle Qi Warriors are nothing but ants that can be killed at will."

He gestured with his bare hands, as if he had already become a Legendary Warrior himself. "The lord charged into the demon army all alone. With a casual swing of his sword, he could kill countless lesser demons, and even high-ranking demons would end up missing limbs."

Renard had only ever seen someone who could take an enemy commander's head amid a vast army in novels.

Colliver sighed. "But the lord was injured in that battle and left with a lingering ailment. In recent years, he's been bedridden, and Miss Heidi has been handling all the affairs of the territory."

Renard clicked his tongue. "He charged off alone and killed their commander. The fact the lord made it back alive is already pretty impressive."

The two of them lingered in the bathhouse for a long time. They finally left, still reluctant to go, when Lady Donna called for them to hurry downstairs for dinner.
