Power Progression
Bullet’s documented growth centers on Haki development and increasingly powerful fusion forms rather than numbered cultivation realms.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Prison-developed Armament Haki | 221 | Unable to train his Devil Fruit in prison, Bullet instead cultivated exceptionally powerful Haki. His full-body coating becomes dense and deep purple; Will subsequently acknowledges that Bullet’s Armament Haki exceeds his own 222. |
| Nearly ten-meter fusion form | 224 | Reveals a rock-like body assembled from surrounding stone, wood, and metal. Integrating more Haki into this enlarged body produces punches that Will’s Power Erasure cannot completely neutralize. |
| Further fusion enlargement | 225 | Pushes beyond his previous limits by gathering more inorganic matter and enlarging his body again, though Will’s enhanced speed and power continue to suppress him. |
| Thousand-meter fusion form | 285 | Fuses surrounding material into a giant matching Pica’s thousand-meter scale while retaining enough speed to dismantle the opposing giant. |
| Conqueror’s Haki Entanglement | 286 | After learning Haki applications from Will, demonstrates Strongest Strike, destroying Pica’s rock giant and incapacitating his concealed body. |
| Improved performance against elite opponents | 312 | Uses Conqueror’s Haki Entanglement to suppress Katakuri. Bullet judges that the same opponent would have required a much harder fight immediately after his escape from Impel Down. |
Background / History
Bullet previously sailed aboard Roger’s ship, repeatedly challenging Roger and fighting Rayleigh. He consistently favored attacking over passive defense. Roger defeated him several times using Conqueror’s Haki, leaving him familiar with the power that Will later employs against him 223 226 232.
More than twenty years before the Sabaody incidents, a Buster Call successfully captured Bullet. He recalls suffering severe pain after numerous Marines exhausted his stamina. During his imprisonment in Impel Down, restrictions prevented him from developing his Devil Fruit, but he continued strengthening his Haki 221 223 233.
After regaining his freedom, Bullet studied reports about Will and watched the Marineford broadcast. Will’s battles against powerful opponents—and his successful withdrawal from the war—made him an attractive target for Bullet’s pursuit of the world’s strongest title 202 218.
Appearance
- Build: Exceptionally tall and muscular; Chopper notes that he is taller than both Will and Enel 236.
- Hair: Light blond, worn slicked back 202.
- Clothing: Military uniform, initially described as black, with metal earmuffs 202 236.
- Battle injuries: Wears extensive bandages, including facial bandages, after repeated fights with Will 232.
- Haki appearance: His full-body Armament coating changes from black to dense deep purple, also darkening his hair 221.
- Fusion forms: Can resemble a rock giant or a heavily armored “Human Weapon” 224 312.
Personality
Bullet is direct, aggressive, and happiest when fighting someone strong enough to challenge him. Rather than resenting Will’s superior talent, he becomes more excited: defeating such an opponent would make his claim to being the world’s strongest meaningful. Unfamiliar techniques also provoke curiosity; when Power Erasure penetrates his defenses, he continues fighting to understand it firsthand 218 223.
His confidence initially accompanies a dismissive view of companionship. He considers crewmates unnecessary and questions Will’s decision to bring weaker members into the New World. Will’s argument—that true confidence means being strong enough to protect whichever companions one chooses—shakes that belief, although Bullet does not immediately abandon it 232.
After joining the crew, his ambition becomes urgent. Remembering Roger’s incurable illness, he worries that Will might likewise die before Bullet can surpass him. He therefore plans high-intensity training during much of his rest time, supplemented by frequent sparring 244.
Bullet can be restrained around his new companions but remains ruthless toward enemies. He greets the crew politely despite noticing their weaker auras; later, he crushes an intruder’s head when the man refuses to identify his master 236 262.
Abilities & Skills
Hand-to-Hand Combat
Bullet combines immense physical strength with extensive combat experience. Will considers his technique substantially better than that of fighters who rely on brute force and broad, uncontrolled attacks 218.
- Fights Will continuously for several hours using physical techniques and raw strength 221.
- Delivers punches powerful enough to shatter a small mountain 224.
- Uses rapid combinations, aerial attacks, and downward slams to overwhelm Hody Jones 246.
- Adapts after repeated encounters with Power Erasure, reducing how often Will’s counters drive him backward 224.
- Possesses substantial stamina, but sustained fighting and massed Marine attacks have exhausted him in the past 223.
Armament Haki
Bullet can coat his entire body in Armament Haki and integrate additional Haki into his body and fusion forms. During their first battle, Will explicitly recognizes Bullet’s Armament as stronger than his own 221 222.
- Withstands simultaneous attacks from the fish-man executives without moving or suffering damage; their weapons produce sparks against his coating 245.
- Scatters Hody’s building-destroying water arrows with hardened arms 245.
- Reinforces enlarged fusion bodies to increase both protection and striking power 224 286.
- Limits: Power Erasure-assisted counters penetrate his defense, while Will’s Conqueror’s Haki attacks break through both his Haki and fused armor 223 226.
Conqueror’s Haki
Bullet releases Conqueror’s Haki in a direct clash with Will, producing an explosion and incapacitating nearby people 218.
- Learns advanced applications from Will after boarding the Fried 286.
- Conqueror’s Haki Entanglement: Strongest Strike coats his fists in black-and-red lightning, greatly exceeding the destructive power of Armament alone 286.
- Uses the technique to defeat Pica and later force Katakuri backward 286 312.
- Continues seeking stronger Haki even after acquiring entanglement 304.
Observation Haki
Bullet senses opponents and nearby observers during combat 221 225.
- Detects Will pursuing him after being knocked away 225.
- Notices Bonney watching the Sabaody battle but leaves her alone 221.
- Limit: Will’s enhanced speed becomes too great for Bullet to locate him accurately through Observation alone, forcing him to rely on combat experience 225.
Fusion-Fusion Fruit
Bullet describes himself as a “Fusion-Fusion Human,” capable of merging and reshaping inorganic matter he touches 224.
- Manipulates materials including stone, wood, and metal 224.
- Can manufacture large quantities of weapons from available material 224.
- Fuses surrounding objects onto himself to create armored bodies and giant forms 224 285.
- Retains considerable speed despite enlargement 224 285.
- Combines fusion with Haki reinforcement rather than depending on size alone 286.
- Uses rock blades to counter Daruma’s underground attack 245.
Helmsmanship
- Entrusted with steering the Fried during its underwater voyage 238.
Relationships
- Will — Rival, captain, and Haki instructor. Repeated defeats deepen Bullet’s determination to surpass him; joining his crew provides continued opportunities to challenge him and learn advanced Haki 226 232 236 244 286.
- Roger — Former captain and benchmark for strength. Roger repeatedly defeated him with Conqueror’s Haki; his illness later fuels Bullet’s anxiety about losing another rival before surpassing him 226 232 244.
- Rayleigh — Former opponent whom Bullet fought aggressively. Fighting Will makes Bullet briefly imagine himself occupying Rayleigh’s former position against a younger challenger 218 223.
- Enel — Crewmate and sparring rival. Their brief exchange leaves Enel wanting a proper rematch, which Will uses as an additional reason for Bullet to come aboard 232 236.
- Chopper — Crewmate who welcomes him aboard and accompanies him to select a cabin 236.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Sabaody Archipelago
- Easily defeats Drake on island 11GR before his major battle with Will 233.
- Challenges Will on island 9GR, escalating from physical combat to Haki and giant fusion forms 218 221 224 225.
- Loses to Meteor Impact and God Slayer. Will spares him and advises further training in Conqueror’s Haki Entanglement 226.
- Continues challenging Will over the following days. Marine intelligence records that their battles destroy the surfaces of islands 9GR, 10GR, and 11GR; Shalria and her escorts die in the aftermath of the first battle 233.
- Accepts Will’s invitation and boards the Fried as a crewmate 232 236.
Fish-Man Island and Ship Defense
- Repels Hody Jones and his executives before they can reach the deck, then withstands their coordinated assault 244 245.
- Overwhelms Hody even after further drug enhancement, launching him upward and smashing him into the ground 245 246.
- Later disposes of hostile intruders aboard the ship, killing their leader when he refuses to reveal who sent them 262.
Battle with Pica
- Tests his improved fusion ability against Pica’s Stone-Stone Fruit, matching his thousand-meter giant and systematically breaking its limbs and torso 284 285 286.
- Recognizes that destroying the rock shell alone does not injure Pica’s hidden body 286.
- Finishes the fight with Strongest Strike, breaking the giant apart and blasting Pica from its chest unconscious 286.
Whole Cake Island
- Battles Katakuri, whose awakened mochi powers and future-seeing Observation Haki prolong the fight 304 312.
- Gains the upper hand through superior Armament and Conqueror’s Haki, but the island-wide interruption ends the fighting before a decisive victory is shown 312.
- Alongside Enel and Issho, exemplifies the strength of Will’s crew during the subsequent negotiations with Big Mom 313.
