Xiao Lan woke up halfway through the night to use the bathroom and happened to see that her brother's room was still lit.

She knocked on the door and asked, "Brother, why are you still awake?"

"I..."

Hearing Xiao Lan's voice, Jiang Chen opened the door. "I ate too much, so I can't sleep."

"I have some hawthorn slices in my room. They help with digestion. I'll get some for you!"

"No need!"

Jiang Chen stopped Xiao Lan, not wanting her to fuss around in the middle of the night.

Jiang Chen quickly swallowed the hawthorn that made him uncomfortable and said to Xiao Lan, "Go back to sleep. I need to rest too!"

With that, Xiao Lan smiled obediently, waved at Jiang Chen, and returned to her room.

Jiang Chen closed the door as well, then lay alone on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
