Background / History

Kaoshan Sect was founded by Kaoshan Ancestor, who practiced the Survival Dao to Great Emperor-level mastery. During the sect's founding, he publicly appeared to be only at the Heavenly Human Realm, then instantly killed a Lin Dao Realm opponent and later crushed that opponent's Sage Tier ancestor. This established the sect's tradition of concealing its true strength. 11

At the beginning of the story, the sect is based in Arid State of the Eastern Domain on Big Dipper Star. It is publicly treated as one of Arid State's three major powers and a former member of the Eastern Domain's Nine Great Immortal Sects, but its actual foundations are known only to a small number of Sect Masters and Old Ancestors. 1 11 59

Hua Yunfei later creates the Primordial Realm and erects a mountain gate bearing the name Kaoshan Sect within it. 660 Despite later becoming the undisputed foremost Dao lineage of Primordial, the sect deliberately retains its traditional sixth-place ranking among the Nine Great Immortal Sects. 1642

Philosophy

Kaoshan Sect follows the Survival Dao, also called the Cowardly Path: conceal strength, avoid needless exposure, prepare contingencies, and act decisively when action becomes necessary. 11 19 42

The sect does not equate “cowardly” with timid. Its Old Ancestors state that the true Cowardly Path means refusing unnecessary danger while acting without hesitation when the situation demands it. 392

“The Kaoshan Sect does not cause trouble, nor does it fear trouble.” 42
