Background / History

Lost past and the Path of Reincarnation

Gaishi spent an immeasurable time on the Path of Reincarnation, eventually forgetting his original name, former home, and much of his past. After Hua Yunfei praised the phrase “His might could uproot mountains, his spirit could cover the world,” he adopted Gaishi as his name. The phrase stirred a fragmented memory of a winged girl who once admired him 681.

His memories later returned: the girl was the future Angel Sacred Emperor, then known to him as Little Moon. The two had depended on one another as children until Gaishi merged with the Endless Reincarnation Body, sent her away, and became trapped in the eternal Path of Reincarnation 758.

Alliance with Hua Yunfei

Gaishi and Hua Yunfei were originally enemies, but Hua Yunfei eventually convinced him to become an enforcer against the God Emperor. Their association developed into a sworn-brother-like bond built on repeated joint battles 2061 2296.

When Hua Yunfei summoned him to Reincarnation Ancient Land, Gaishi fought the God Emperor, Angel Sacred Emperor, and Hell Lord. Although he initially regarded three Quasi-Immortal Emperors as too much to face alone, Hua Yunfei’s Heaven-Mending Battle Formation and supplied equipment enabled him to overwhelm the trio 755 756 757.

Immortal Emperor and the Gaishi Era

Gaishi cultivated the Reincarnation Law, allowing him to cultivate across multiple space-times simultaneously. This helped explain his reappearance and vast increase in strength 971.

After becoming an Immortal Emperor, Gaishi escorted the Great Universes’ Immortal Kings and Quasi-Immortal Emperors home, destroyed the Outer Heaven Realm passage, and opened routes between the Great Universes. He then founded the Overlord Court and its branch courts, beginning the era publicly named after him 1129.

He rejects the grand title “Heavenly Emperor” in favor of the more familiar Brother Gai 1129.

Gaishi’s personal guidance at the Overlord Court helped cultivators from Great Universes that had never produced a Quasi-Immortal Emperor achieve that realm. His open and approachable conduct made him extraordinarily popular among the Great Universes’ myriad beings, generating a substantial force of wish-power 1131.

Return to the Ancient Clan of Strength

Gaishi’s overwhelming physique drew the attention of the Ancient Clan of Strength. He defeated the successor-level Immortal Emperor Gai Xingye through self-taught body cultivation, then refused attempts to bring him back to the clan on their terms 1824 1825 1826.

His talent shocked the clan: he had comprehended the clan’s core ultimate skill, the Overlord Fist, while only in the Immortal King Realm—a feat others required the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm to achieve 1927 1928.

Elder Ancestor Gai Yan eventually retrieved Gaishi personally and accepted him as a personal disciple. Gaishi trained in the Ancient Clan of Strength’s forbidden land under Gai Yan’s guidance 2062 2157.

During this training, Gai Yan threw him into the clan’s ancient battlefield to survive, where Gaishi fought Gai Mao and endured the clan’s unusually forceful “welcome.” Despite initially being overwhelmed by a group assault, he came to regard the Ancient Clan of Strength as a genuine home, finding none of its members hostile toward the clansman returning to them 2066 2069 2070.

Dao Fruit revelation

Gaishi vanished from the clan’s forbidden land and was traced to Fentian Cave. Hua Yunfei and the Elder Ancestors discovered that he was Li Zu’s Dao Fruit and that Li Zu intended to reclaim him 2177.

Li Zu absorbed Gaishi’s Dao Fruit, seemingly killing him. The later revelation complicated this loss: Li Zu had maintained control over Gaishi through a shared consciousness, treating much of Gaishi’s life as an elaborate act and scheme 2179 2181.

After the absorption, Elder Ancestor Gai Yan concluded that the Gaishi-shaped figure before them was not Li Zu’s complete main body, but an incarnation borrowing part of Li Zu’s power. This continuing persona disclosed that his true name was Gaia, though he still preferred to be called Gaishi 2181 2182.

Battle against the Supreme Heavenly Emperor

At Hua Yunfei’s request, Gaishi confronted the Supreme Heavenly Emperor in the Black Underworld Great World. Their physical battle lasted thousands of years, devastated the world, and demonstrated Gaishi’s extraordinary endurance; he remained uninjured after five thousand years of combat before the battle escalated further 2303 2308.

With the Immeasurable Heaven-Crossing Armor, the Heaven and Earth Infinite Ruler, and the Heaven and Earth Bead, Gaishi held back and heavily injured the Supreme Heavenly Emperor. His true objective was to create an opening for Hua Yunfei’s plan rather than defeat the enemy alone 2309 2310 2317 2320.

The battle severely wounded Gaishi, but he treated the injuries as valuable body-cultivation training. Hua Yunfei credited Gaishi’s endurance and offense with placing enough pressure on the Supreme Heavenly Emperor for the overall plan to succeed 2320.

Subsequent battles in the Forbidden River Domain

Gaishi later accompanied Hua Yunfei into the Forbidden River Domain. Although he warned that Black Underworld Great World treasures might prove ineffective in that environment, he remained willing to take on difficult battles for Hua Yunfei 2411.

At Kui Xuan Black Nether Island, Gaishi forcibly suppressed the Black Nether Maitreya Slaughter Formation with raw strength. He subsequently fought the Kui Xuan Netherworld Emperor, wounded him despite the latter’s forbidden technique, and reached a deadlock against the Emperor’s methods using his own Natal Magic Weapon 2413 2414.

When Kui Xuan dragged him into the depths of the Forbidden River Domain, Gaishi was heavily restricted by the river’s power, which slowed both his movement and thought processes. He nevertheless remained a threat significant enough for the Forbidden River Domain’s will to take seriously when he invoked Infinite Heaven as his backer 2414 2447.
