Background / History

Kana and her older sister, Uzumaki Mizuki, travel with Nishikawa Tetsu to the Land of Hot Water while Kana is critically ill. Tsunade uses a treatment based on Creation Rebirth to regenerate Kana’s failing organs; it risks consuming some of her future vitality. After recovering, Kana says she wants to learn to fight so she can protect Mizuki. Tetsu brings the sisters to Konoha, where Uzumaki Mito takes them in and arranges instruction under Tsunade 87 89 93 96.

Kana enters the Ninja Academy with Shizune and meets Kakashi on their first day. Later, Cloud ninja kidnap her; Tetsu tracks her to a cave, and Hatake Sakumo rescues her 106 135.

Minato discovers that Kana can sense faint spatial fluctuations and begins teaching her through teleportation games and sealing puzzles. After graduating, she reluctantly enters the Joint Chūnin Exams. In the Death Forest, she uses chakra resonance and a Four Symbols Seal to disable the puppet Vajra. In the arena, she defeats Cee, then faces Killer B: her Adamantine Sealing Chains suppress his tailed-beast chakra, but the effort exhausts her and she loses the match 224 254 256 270 310 349 357 358.

Appearance

Kana is a small, red-haired girl whose energetic appearance returns after Tsunade treats her illness 93.

Personality

Kana is outgoing and affectionate, quickly trying to befriend the reserved Kakashi and greeting Tetsu with open excitement. Sweets are an effective incentive for her training, though she dislikes conventional study and initially looks for shortcuts when frightened by the Chūnin Exams 106 224 254 255 272.

She often boasts about being a protective “big sister,” but danger can puncture that confidence. During the exams, she flees Vajra before finding a way to disable it, and later asks Sasori for help when seven Genin overwhelm her. She can also respond generously: after defeating Cee, she offers to heal him 308 310 322 323 350.

Spatial and chakra sensing

Kana has unusually acute perception of spatial ripples. Minato observes her looking toward his Flying Thunder God landing points before he appears; she also experiences no dizziness from long-distance teleportation 224 254.
