Background

Mo Xingjian is the master of Little Spirit Peak's disciples. Before taking Yan Xiaohu as his third disciple, he found him making a living by pretending to be a deity or ghost; impressed by Yan's talent and quick wit, he accepted him into the sect 83. His known disciples include eldest disciple Gui Ao, second disciple Luo Lingling, Yan Xiaohu, and Zhou Qing, whom he calls his Fourth Child 9 121.

He maintains a longstanding connection to the Taiqing Sect's elusive “Second Uncle.” Mo Xingjian recalls that several sect leaders once wanted to make the man their successor, only for him to cause trouble and fake his death whenever responsibility threatened to bind him 111. Mo Xingjian later confirms that the Taiqing peak lords had all been close to Second Uncle in the past 111.

Personality

Mo Xingjian is strict, blunt, and easily exasperated by the trouble caused by Yan Xiaohu and Zhou Qing. He repeatedly disciplines them over their peeping scandals, theft accusations, and reckless schemes, often comparing their conduct unfavorably with Gui Ao's 18 39.

His harshness is paired with unmistakable concern. He gives Zhou Qing responsibilities because he trusts his judgment, warns him about dangers surrounding the Taiqing Sect's secrets, and provides practical protection when threats escalate 9 15 80. When Zhou Qing is gravely wounded, Mo Xingjian immediately spends his own resources to activate the Rebirth Array 108.

He is also politically cautious. He refuses to accept unsupported accusations against Gao Xuan, recognizes the risks in cooperating with Tianji Gate, and is willing to use deception and loyalty tests to protect the sect 68 132 133. Though proud of Zhou Qing's growth, he rejects the idea of binding him to Taiqing Sect leadership, believing the sect is too small to contain his future 184.
