A Massive Haul, While I'm at It
Lin Yi watched as the four-colored flame, no bigger than a fingernail, silently disappeared into the center of Huo Han's forehead, and then exploded inside Huo Han's skull like ink dripping into water.
Flames of four colors—black, Silverblue, dark purple, and gray—emerged simultaneously from his seven orifices.
The eyeballs turned into two charred, empty holes the instant the flames swept over them. Dense, four-colored cracks appeared on the surface of the skin, spreading outwards from the forehead. Wherever the cracks passed, the flesh and bones melted silently, like wax figures thrown into a furnace.
The whole process was incredibly fast.
From the moment the flames entered his forehead to the Huo Han was Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame, it was only a blink of an eye.
The humanoid torch twitched violently in the void a few times, then completely lost its humanoid shape, transforming into a surging and expanding four-colored fireball.
After the fireball engulfed Huo Han, it shot up to the height of a person, with four colors intertwined and swirling within it, emitting a powerful aura.
Lin Yi sensed the Soul Power returning from the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame, and a satisfied smile appeared on his lips.
This was the first true kill of the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame.
Although it was used to burn the trial body and the Origin Law True Body in the trial space before, the trial body was ultimately just something simulated by the Eternal Source Ring, without a real soul.
After those trial bodies were burned, it was like drinking a bellyful of plain water; although they could still grow, they always felt something was missing.
But Huo Han is different.
This was a genuine fourth-level Eternal Source Realm cultivator. After absorbing it, it could increase his Soul Power. He estimated that it increased his Soul Power by about 5% compared to a normal fourth-level Eternal Source Realm.
If it were him, it would probably have increased by about 0.3%.
Although it may not seem like much, this is just a mere fourth-level cultivator in the Eternal Source Realm.
"It seems the true purpose of the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame is to devour those powerful individuals, and it should be able to reach the maximum triple amplification level very quickly..." Lin Yi thought to himself. "And now is the best opportunity. Normally, there aren't that many heinous powerful individuals gathered together, and they can't escape. Besides, these guys usually carry all their valuables with them..."
Compared to purely brute-force attack techniques, the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame has an advantage: it can directly burn into the enemy's weak points, thus generally not causing significant damage to the enemy's treasures.
Thinking of this, Lin Yi's gaze fell on the pile of messy things that Huo Han had dropped.
Although Huo Han died, the items in his Divine Kingdom were expelled due to the collapse of the Divine Kingdom.
Various storage crystal boxes, several treasures radiating the fluctuations of laws, a few semi-transparent information crystals, and a pile of odds and ends that Lin Yi couldn't recognize at the moment were all scattered and floating in mid-air, reflecting mottled light and shadow under the reflection of the cyan light membrane not far away.
Lin Yi glanced at them, didn't look closely, and simply raised his hand and swept them all away.
We can take stock of these things when we get back. For a Level 4 Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones like Wuguang to carry them around, they can't be too shabby.
After doing all this, Lin Yi turned his gaze back to the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame in front of him.
He thought for a moment, then raised his hand and pointed.
Under his control of his Soul Power, the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame trembled violently, then silently split into two.
The two flames that had split apart surged for a moment before quickly stabilizing again.
Lin Yi raised his hand and gently gathered it towards one of the wisps.
The four-colored flames, as if molded by an invisible hand, spread upwards along his left arm, burning from his wrist all the way to his shoulder, and then from his shoulder to his chest and back, instantly covering his pale golden energy armor with a thin layer of four-colored fire armor.
The fire armor wasn't thick; instead, it was so thin it was almost transparent, with four colors of light flowing slowly inside, like a layer of flowing glaze coating the pale gold armor surface.
Lin Yi stretched his shoulders, and the four-colored fire armor stretched out a few extremely thin strands of fire at the joints before sticking back together.
"Good."
He nodded in satisfaction.
With the protection of this Silent Nether Soul-Rending Flame Armor, plus the original Law Inscriptions Armor, Constant Ban Battle Armor, Flowing Secret Technique, and the multiple defenses of the Voidless, even if Lightless Ones at the Early Constant Source Realm were to strike him unexpectedly, it wouldn't be enough to force him to activate the Constant Fusion passive skill.
After all, he wanted to take this opportunity to make a good profit. Although Huo Han was only at the fourth level of the Eternal Source Realm, he was worth 40,000 contribution points after he was killed. In addition, the items that fell from his body were worth at least one or two million Eternal Cosmos Crystal. Therefore, Huo Han alone brought him a harvest of nearly six million Eternal Cosmos Crystal.
It's important to know that such a situation—where someone kills Eternal Source Realm expert independently and without assistance—is extremely rare within the Empire's territory; he's only encountered it twice in millions of Epoch.
Meanwhile, in this Lightless City, there are still many such opportunities.
Thinking of this, Lin Yi immediately looked at the other ball of flame that was floating in the air.
Under his control of his Soul Power, the flame began to rapidly transform, stretching in both directions. One end contracted into a sharp sword tip, while the other end condensed into the shape of a sword guard and hilt.
In a short while, a Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword took shape.
Lin Yi raised his head, his dark eyes sweeping across the battlefield below.
Everywhere you look, there are figures fighting.
However, it was mostly the Empire that was suppressing the Lightless Ones.
The reason is simple: the Empire sent only its elite forces this time.
The commanders of the Imperial Army often fought against two or even three opponents at once, yet they held their own without being at a disadvantage.
Those Imperial Army warriors clad in dark blue commander's armor were all elites. Their insignia configurations might not be as luxurious as those of the Constant Island prodigies, but their combat experience and on-the-spot judgment were astonishing. Their attacks were devoid of any fancy moves, each strike aimed straight for the vital points.
The Constant Guard were even more decisive and efficient.
Although the twenty Constant Guard were few in number, their performance was by no means weak. Lin Yi saw from afar that the dark blue scales on the arm of one of the Abyssal Flow Race Constant Guard simultaneously lit up with a dazzling cold light the moment he made his move. Then, with a single palm strike, he slapped a Lightless Ones was trying to sneak up on him into a cloud of blood mist.
As for the trial students on Constant Island, they were all top talents selected from the best, and they fought with even greater ease.
Lin Yi glanced at it once and then looked away.
This situation is none of his concern.
He spread out his Soul Power, quickly sweeping it over the Lightless Ones below who were still frantically attacking the cyan light membrane.
His senses swept over each of the Lightless Ones, discerning the strength level of each target with astonishing speed.
Let E Lan and the others deal with those at the peak of the Eternal Source Realm Completion. They can fight those at the High Order of the Eternal Source Realm, but it's not very efficient. The ones who are truly most suitable as initial nourishment for the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword are those at the early and mid-stages of the Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones.
Lin Yi quickly set his sights on his next target.
It was a very burly, Lightless Ones with a flushed face and bulging veins on his forehead, wielding a ferocious double-edged battle axe and frantically hacking at the blue light membrane in front of him.
The man's arms were covered with a mottled layer of dark green scales. The surface of the scales was covered with rough patterns left by the repeated washing of Chaos Power. Every time his battle axe fell, it would explode into a circle of dark green energy ripples on the cyan light membrane.
Fifth level of the Eternal Source Realm.
You're the one.
With a thought, Lin Yi sent the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword flying in a sharp arc through the air, heading straight for its target.
The Lightless Ones was hacking at the blue light membrane with all his might. By the time he sensed the danger and turned around, the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword was already in front of him.
He subconsciously summoned a token-shaped defensive artifact, and the patterns on the token lit up instantly, forming a dark green energy barrier.
But Lin Yi instantly saw through the weakness using the Awakening Radiance Seal Pact.
The tip of the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword pierced the tiny gap where the two law patterns intersected.
This gap is precisely the weakest point in the defense.
The Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword pierced through the energy barrier without any resistance and then plunged into the opponent's chest.
The four-colored flames exploded instantly, engulfing him entirely.
The Lightless Ones let out an extremely shrill scream, its entire body convulsing wildly in the flames, but the convulsions only lasted for a moment before abruptly stopping.
The humanoid torch churned in the void for a moment, then expanded to a much larger size.
Lin Yi didn't even glance at the expanding fireball; his Soul Power had already locked onto his next target.
The Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword reformed from the fireball, paused slightly in the void, and then transformed into a four-colored stream of light, rushing towards another Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones.
It is also at the low level of the Eternal Source Realm.
Both were fatal with a single blow.
After absorbing the energy, the sword light grew even larger.
Then comes the third one.
The fourth one.
The fifth one.
The sixth one.
The seventh.
Lin Yi hovered in the void, remotely controlling the four-colored flying sword that was traversing the battlefield with his Soul Power.
After devouring the seventh Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones, the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword has transformed into a giant sword, resembling a four-colored fire dragon winding across the battlefield from afar.
Those Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones who were still frantically attacking the cyan light membrane finally noticed the flaming flying sword that was reaping lives on the battlefield.
A High Order of the Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones suddenly turned around, staring intently at the four-colored sword light that was rushing towards him, a trace of fear flashing deep in his pupils.
He subconsciously raised his hands, palms facing each other, and a ball of dark red energy condensed between his palms at high speed. Then he hurled the energy ball at the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword.
The dark red energy ball traced a scorching arc in the void as Wolf Fiercely collided with the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword.
However, the expected explosion did not occur.
The dark red energy ball was engulfed in flames the moment it came into contact with the Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword.
The High Order of the Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones felt his attack quickly spiral out of control. His expression changed drastically, and without hesitation, he activated his Great Seal Burst.
A dark red barrier suddenly unfolded around him, its surface flowing with countless scorching lines, each Dao Patterns radiating a terrifying aura capable of severely injuring an ordinary mid-stage Eternal Source Realm.
However, Lin Yi only glanced at it before finding the weak point in the defensive barrier.
Three inches to the left of the center of the barrier, there is an extremely subtle stagnation in the flow of energy.
The sword tip pierced that spot precisely.
The dark red barrier shattered like a burst bubble, turning into a sky full of dark red dust.
The sword's momentum did not diminish, and it pierced straight into his chest.
The eighth one.
After devouring this high-level Eternal Source Realm Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword expanded even further, and the pressure emanating from the entire sword caused the surrounding void to tremble slightly.
Lin Yi thought to himself, "These few alone should amount to over 400,000 contribution points, plus at least 20 million Eternal Judgment Crystal... Truly, murder and arson bring wealth."
As he pondered this, he quickly began searching for his next target.
Meanwhile, the other Constant Island trial participants had already defeated their first opponents and begun searching for their second targets.
Those in the Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones fell into an ever-deepening despair.
Attacking the cyan light film is completely useless.
That seemingly thin, semi-transparent light membrane was some kind of treasure, and no matter how they bombarded it, it remained completely still. Only tiny ripples would spread across its surface, which were then smoothed out by the membrane's own restorative power.
Meanwhile, the number of Lightless Ones still attacking the light membrane is decreasing at a visible rate.
Every fallen Lightless Ones means the enemy's numerical advantage increases; every fallen Lightless Ones means the remaining forces will face even more enemies.
Even more deadly was the four-colored flying sword that was reaping lives on the battlefield. It was like a death whirlwind that never stopped, sweeping from one of the Lightless Ones to the Lightless Ones, taking a life with each sweep and expanding its blade after each death.
In just a short while, the oppressive aura emanating from that sword had already caused even those High Order of the Eternal Source Realm Lightless Ones to lose the courage to resist.
The frequency with which those Lightless Ones attacked the cyan light membrane decreased.
Some people's attacks have begun to become chaotic and disorderly. The originally precise energy bombardment has turned into a random and haphazard scattering. The Chaos Power can't even stir up a ripple when it hits the cyan light membrane.
Their faces were pale, their eyes unfocused—the expression of utter despair.
At that moment, a gaunt, sunken-cheeked Lightless Ones suddenly stopped his attack.
Two dark green ghost flames burned in the man's eye sockets. These ghost flames were permanent marks left after he cultivated some kind of secret soul technique, and they were now pulsating wildly with the intense fluctuations of his emotions.
He stood motionless for a moment, suspended in front of the cyan light membrane, before suddenly turning around.
Those dark green, ghostly eyes were fixed on the Imperial Army who was approaching him, and the flames in his eye sockets suddenly became blindingly bright.
"Come on! Come on! We're all going to die anyway! I'll take you all with me!"
Having said that, he lunged at the Imperial Army.
Dark green flames erupted from every inch of his skin. It was a secret technique that burned his very essence to unleash his combat power. Although the price was certain death, the combat power he could unleash in a short time was enough to threaten an opponent who was a whole realm higher than him.
Similar scenes were playing out simultaneously across the battlefield.
Those utterly desperate Lightless Ones stopped attacking the cyan light membrane and stopped trying to escape. Instead, they turned around and launched a suicidal counterattack against the encircling forces in the most frenzied way.
Suddenly, the intensity of the battle escalated.
Faced with the desperate, near-death counterattack of the Lightless Ones, the powerful members of the Imperial Army also adopted more cautious strategies.
However, not all those Lightless Ones chose to fight back fiercely.
Some of the Lightless Ones who were attacking the cyan light membrane stopped what they were doing and looked down at the figures kneeling on the ground.
Especially on the rolling metal wasteland, in the narrow passages between those shacks, and in the shadows of those abandoned cabins, slaves knelt everywhere.
These slaves were captured from various giant cities and cosmic domains and brought to the Lightless City; their cultivation levels ranged from the Cosmic Source Realm to the True Source Realm.
Beside the wreckage of an abandoned transport ship, the boys and girls who had previously taken refuge in the hold were kneeling.
The girl who had been wiping the tools was kneeling at the very edge, staring blankly at the figures fighting in the sky.
Kneeling beside her was the boy who had once said, "Accept your fate," also staring intently at the figures fighting against the Lightless Ones in the distant void.
He watched as the towering Origin Law True Body clashed fiercely in the sky, each collision unleashing a shockwave powerful enough to tear apart the void.
That is... the Constant Source Realm...
The boy murmured, his voice filled with an almost instinctive sense of awe.
He had only heard of the existence of the Constant Source Realm before, and that it was a supreme powerhouse that surpassed the Eternal Source Realm and touched upon the Chaos Origin Law.
Now, he witnessed more than one Origin Law True Body at the Constant Source Realm fighting in the void. The aftershocks from each collision of those True Body made him feel as if his heart was about to jump out of his chest.
The other boys kneeling beside the wreckage of the side cabin were also witnessing the same scene.
They had lived in this Lightless City since birth, and their knowledge of the "Imperial Army" and the "Constant Guard" was limited to the occasional snippets of information uttered by the newly captured slaves.
So when those two enormous, deep purple hands, obscuring the sky, tore through the Ice Thunder Tornado not long ago, and when those majestic Origin Law True Body descended from the sky, their first reaction was not surprise, but bewilderment.
They even thought there was internal strife.
After all, they had heard that the Lightless City were not always harmonious and sometimes even attacked each other.
Then another large group of figures poured in through the opening in the Ice Thunder Tornado.
This time, even more people poured in.
Moreover, they clearly saw that many of the figures were wearing extremely conspicuous golden armor, which was particularly eye-catching.
The girl's pupils suddenly contracted.
These characteristics are exactly the same as those described by the captured practitioners.
"These... these seem to be the Imperial Army and the Constant Guard they were talking about?"
Her voice trembled slightly with excitement, and a light she had never seen before shone in her greyish-white eyes. "They showed us the footage! It's exactly like this! The ones in gold armor are the Constant Guard, Crimson Armor are the Imperial Army!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than a grand and majestic voice boomed like thunder across the entire Lightless City.
"The Imperial Army has annihilated the Lightless City. Kneel and surrender! Those who resist will die!"
The oppressive force contained in that voice caused all the slaves to tremble violently at the same moment.
But this time, the trembling was not due to the pain of being punished.
Instead, it was ecstatic.
"It really is the Imperial Army, it really is them!"
The slightly chubby boy suddenly raised his head, his eyes already brimming with tears.
"We're saved! We're saved!" another tall, thin boy shouted, his voice trembling with tears.
The boy who had been saying "accept your fate" finally came to his senses.
He stared blankly at the figures fighting the Lightless Ones in the distance, his lips trembling several times, then he suddenly turned to his companions and shouted, "Quick, kneel down! Everyone kneel down!"
Actually, he didn't need to shout; everyone was already kneeling.
They knew the ropes well.
But the reason this time is completely different from before.
Before, there was fear, numbness, and the need to lie on the ground to save one's life.
Things are different now.
Although they were still kneeling, everyone's eyes were shining and everyone's face was smiling.
"I knew it... I knew someone would come to rescue us..."
The girl seemed to be talking to herself, or perhaps praying to some distant deity.
Beside her, the boy who had once said with an almost mocking tone, "Accept your fate, my ancestors have been slaves here for generations," was now biting his lower lip so hard that his lips turned white.
Although they remained kneeling, their gazes never left the distant battlefield.
They saw that the figures rushing in clearly had the upper hand. One after another, the Lightless Ones of the Eternal Source Realm were killed, and the Origin Law True Body of the Lightless Ones of the Constant Source Realm was also struggling and retreating step by step.
Those who were once considered unshakeable and unassailable by the Lightless Ones are now collapsing at an alarming rate.
"Well played!"
The slightly chubby boy couldn't help but let out a low shout, but was immediately stopped by a look from his companion.
But the excitement and anticipation in their eyes grew stronger.
Everyone is thinking the same thing.
It'll be soon, it'll be soon, I'll be free.
However, at that moment, an unexpected turn of events occurred on the battlefield that none of them had anticipated.
Some of those utterly desperate Lightless Ones did not choose to fight back against the Imperial Army and the Constant Guard, but instead turned around and faced the direction they were in.
The girl was the first to see the figures flying towards them.
They saw the uncontrollable, mad light burning in the eyes of those Lightless Ones, and they saw the undisguised malice on their faces.
"Hahaha, what are you slaves so happy about? Happy that your master is going to die? Even if I die, you slaves will follow me!"
A venomous roar came from the mouth of a Lightless Ones.
He suddenly hurled the energy ball in his hand towards the area with the highest concentration of slaves in the outer city.
A dark red energy ball traced a scorching arc in the void, followed immediately by the other seven or eight Lightless Ones also made their move.
Beams of energy of various colors, torrents of laws, frost and lightning poured down from different directions like a sudden rain on the kneeling slaves.
The slaves kneeling on the ground watched the various torrents of energy rapidly approaching them, their expressions shifting from joy to fear, and then from fear to utter despair.
The same thing happened next to the wreckage of the cabin where the group of young slave boys were located.
The slightly overweight boy was forced to the ground by the terrifying pressure that descended from the sky.
He tried to get up, but all his bones felt as heavy as lead, and he couldn't even lift a finger.
The girl wiping the tools bit her lip tightly.
Her body was also immobilized by the oppressive force, but she still stubbornly raised her head, her pale gray-white eyes reflecting a rapidly expanding torrent of dark green.
The light from the torrent grew increasingly blinding, making her thin, pale face appear deathly white.
She heard cries and screams all around her, and the desperate sobs of those who were suppressed by the oppressive force and could not even make a sound.
But she didn't close her eyes.
At this moment, her lips were trembling slightly.
It wasn't because of fear.
It's because of resentment.
She remembered what had just happened.
Those figures descending from the sky, that fierce shout of "The Imperial Army will annihilate the Lightless City," those figures fighting alongside the Lightless Ones.
She thought she had finally waited for this moment.
She thought she could finally escape this hell alive.
She was even thinking that once she was rescued, she would go and see the outside world described in those stories.
There are streets where you can walk freely, and rules that prevent you from being killed for saying the wrong thing.
But now, the torrents of energy raining down on her are telling her...
She's dreaming too much.
She ultimately collapsed before dawn, never getting a chance to see the sky outside.
The boy next to her was kneeling on the ground, his hands clenched into fists, his nails digging into the flesh of his palms, leaving bloody marks.
His lips were trembling, and something was welling up in his eyes, but he held it back tightly.
He wanted to say something, to shout something, but it was as if something was blocking his throat, and he couldn't make a sound.
In the distance, Lin Yi frowned.
Actually, this has nothing to do with him.
These slaves were not related to him; he didn't even know their names or their races.
The Chaos Tribunal Sea is too vast; countless people die here every day, in the corners of the Black Mist Sea, in those sinful cities that cannot see the light of day, and no one even collects their remains.
In operations of this scale, unless these powerful figures from the Empire deliberately harm innocent people, casualties resulting from being caught in the crossfire are never considered by the higher-ups.
He could have ignored it.
"But since we have the resources, we'll still lend a hand if we can."
Lin Yi sighed inwardly, then clenched his right fist tightly.
The Silent Nether Soul-Rending Sword, which was reaping the lives of the Lightless Ones not far away, suddenly trembled, and nearly a quarter of its flames separated from its ten-foot-long blade.
The four-colored flames that separated did not condense back into a sword, but instead split into countless extremely fine threads of fire under the control of his Soul Power.
The fire threads became finer and finer, more and more numerous, eventually transforming into a dense array of four-colored fire needles.
Then, Lin Yi raised his hand and gently tapped.
The sky full of fire needles was swept away as if by an invisible gale, heading towards the various torrents that were falling on the slaves.
far away.
In the Ruins Wasteland, just when the slaves thought they were doomed, a strange change occurred.
A black light suddenly flashed across the edge of their vision.
The black light was so fast that they could only vaguely catch a glimpse of its extremely thin outline in the instant it passed by.
It was a needle, a fine needle formed entirely of four-colored flames.
The needle tip gleamed with a cold, Silverblue light, the body of the needle was a jet-black flame, a ring of dark purple light swirled around the eye of the needle, and the very tip of the needle shone with a faint gray glow.
The fire needle struck precisely the dark green torrent that was falling towards them.
Then, to their disbelief, the terrifying attack that they believed could have wiped them and the abandoned cabin beneath their feet began to shrink rapidly.
No, it's not about shrinking.
It was swallowed up.
After the tiny four-colored fire needle pierced into the torrent, the dark green torrent began to collapse at a speed visible to the naked eye.
It was as if an invisible vortex was spinning wildly around the fire needle, drawing in all the surrounding energy.
In the blink of an eye, the dark green torrent was sucked into a wisp of extremely thin and faint green smoke from a surging river of energy, and then swallowed up completely by the fire needle along with the green smoke, leaving not a trace behind.
After absorbing the entire torrent of laws, the fire needle was noticeably larger than before, the four-colored light threads on its body were more condensed, and the fluctuations it emitted were more dangerous.
This sudden turn of events stunned everyone.
The slightly chubby boy stared blankly, mouth agape, forgetting he was still lying on the ground. The girl wiping the tools was staring intently at the fire needle, her greyish-white eyes reflecting the four-colored light flowing across its surface. Her mouth opened and closed slightly, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
Immediately afterwards, more of the same black light swept over their heads, crisscrossing the sky, each one precisely intercepting an attack that was falling towards the slaves.
The dark red energy spheres, the dark green torrents of laws, and the icy blue beams of lightning were all silently split open by the layer of Cinder-Rift Fire on the surface of the fire needle the moment they came into contact with it, creating a tiny gap. The entire fire needle then burrowed into that gap.
In just a short while, the various attacks that had been raining down on the slaves were devoured by tiny four-colored fire needles.
Those attacks, which were terrifying to the slaves and capable of wiping them out in an instant, vanished into thin air like a phantom blown away by the wind.
They've been rescued.
Everyone realized this fact at the same instant.
The slightly overweight boy was the first to collapse to the ground.
He was panting heavily, his forehead covered in cold sweat, looking as if he had just been pulled out of the water.
He slumped to the ground, stunned for a long while, before suddenly turning his head and following the four-colored fire needles that were regrouping.
The girl who had been wiping the tools also collapsed to the ground.
Her legs had completely given way, but her eyes shone with an astonishing light.
She tilted her head back, her gaze fixed on the four-colored fire needles that were converging in the distance, watching them leave behind dazzling four-colored trails in the air, before converging in the same direction like rivers flowing into the sea, weaving a magnificent net of light in the void.
The net of light tightened further and further, eventually coalescing in the distance into a slowly churning fireball.
Beneath the fireball, she saw a figure.
The figure was clad in golden armor, which was also enveloped in a thin layer of four-colored flames.
However, that's all she can see.
At such a great distance, and without daring to use her Soul Power to examine it, she couldn't make out the figure's exact features.
"It's the Constant Guard..."
The boy who had been kneeling beside her murmured, his voice filled with an indescribable complex emotion, "Our savior was a high-ranking member of the Constant Guard."
1
The girl wiping the tools remained silent.
She stared intently at the golden-armored figure suspended in the void, its greyish-white eyes reflecting the slowly rotating four-colored flame, as well as the indistinct outline of the figure below the flame.
She knew that, given that person's level of power, saving them, these lowly slaves, would be merely a casual matter.
Just like someone walking down the street seeing a fish about to die, kicking it back into the river is a trivial action.
That person won't remember what the fish looks like, nor will they care whether the fish will be grateful to him.
But this is incredibly important to the fish.
Because she survived.
She can finally live to see the outside world.
