Light Servant

Among the police surrounding Sean and Charles, a man with his head lowered walked out, stepped to Sean's side, and removed his police cap.

"So strong..."

This was Charles's first reaction.

As an alchemist, his sense of smell was sharper than an ordinary wizard's, and the aura emanating from this man was a match for his teacher's, reaching at least Tier Five!

The smile on Quill's face finally slowly froze: "Light Servant... Kate?"

Kate spoke with deep meaning: "Good discernment, you still recognize me."

Hearing this name, Charles was startled at first, then overjoyed: "You are Lord Light Servant?"

Kate nodded faintly: "Mm."

He was aloof, completely different from the Kate in front of the statue.

He had no intention of hiding his identity either, generously revealing his true face.

Because today, everyone here was going to die.

Daring to make a move against the person Lord Black wanted to protect and his good friend Sean meant having the resolve to face death.

Great, saved! Seeing that the newcomer truly was Kate, Charles had a feeling of elation akin to surviving a disaster, and he asked Sean: "Why didn't you tell me earlier that you know Lord Light Servant? You made me worry for nothing."

He had been ready to fight these guys to the death just a moment ago.

More than just knowing him, Sean thought. Your Lord Light Servant is even my underling.

"You're courting disaster, Kate." Quill warned.

He didn't dwell on how Kate had infiltrated the police force; it was meaningless.

A high-tier wizard of Tier Five possessed far too many means. Even without using such a gentle method, if he simply smashed his way in from the outside, no one here could stop him.

Quill just didn't understand how Sean, a newborn wizard who had only just acquired magic, could manage to invite the Light Servant Kate?

"Big figures" like Kate had long been on the family's roster. Aside from necessary moments, they basically never showed their faces in the outside world, because they were also afraid of getting mixed up in trouble they couldn't resolve.

Witch Hunters similarly had hierarchical divisions, and Winster and the others in the Black Berry Rainforest were merely at the very bottom of them.

"It's no trouble at all." Kate looked at Quill and said, "As long as I kill all of you and clean up nicely, what can you do to me?"

Quill took a deep breath and didn't answer.

It wasn't that he didn't want to answer; deep down in his heart, he knew very well that Kate was telling the truth.

In the face of absolute, crushing power, all threats were a joke. They could rely on numbers to exhaust Sean and Charles's magic, but they couldn't exhaust Kate's. Or to put it more accurately, they didn't even have the qualifications to exchange blows with Kate. The power of Tier Five was enough to instantly obliterate them in a flash.

Quill took a deep look at Sean.

Sean returned a mocking gaze instead, as if saying: Keep acting arrogant, then? Where did all that confidence from a moment ago go?

In a corner, quietly hidden behind a counter, Isha was similarly staring in shock at both Kate and Sean.

She had seen Kate before, but precisely because she had seen him, she was all the more aware of how difficult this man was to invite. To put it in easily understandable terms, he was an overbearing boss. Kate himself also managed a few large companies and put on airs at the drop of a hat. Aside from those wizards who, like her, could enter the second floor of the sanctuary and the idol Lord Black, Kate practically never gave anyone a good look.

Sean actually managed to invite him?

No, she had to report this to Miss Flame Crow immediately.

This man was no simple matter!

Isha picked up her camera once again and "click-clack" snapped a few photos of Sean and the others in the open area.

Strangely enough, whether it was due to being too far away or not, no one noticed her this time.

Not even Kate noticed, let alone Burg and the other police officers.

Their attention at this moment was entirely focused on Kate, every single one of them wearing a vigilant gaze, treating him like a formidable enemy.

Clearly Kate was only one person, or three if you counted Sean and Charles, and they were the ones surrounding those three, yet instead they felt the pressure of being surrounded by the other party.

If Adev were here, he would definitely praise Kate; his application of aura had already grown close to perfection.

This was one of the combat skills every wizard had to learn: before making a move, apply pressure to the enemy first.

Perhaps one could subdue the enemy without fighting.

But Quill was not a man who would surrender, in which respect he was just like Sean.

That was why he always said he admired Sean's courage; people always liked those who were similar to themselves. Even though magic was their bottom line, he personally was willing to give Sean a choice.

It was just that because of the appearance of the Light Servant Kate, the situation had changed, and the one who needed to make a choice now had become him.

And Quill's answer was a single word—

"Kill."

There was fundamentally no room for reconciliation between their two sides, and saying any more was useless. Better to cut the nonsense and fight for their lives directly.

The next second.

Over a hundred police officers in the surrounding area simultaneously discarded their military sabers and drew their guns!

Charles cursed wildly: "Fuxk!"

Didn't these guys say they wouldn't use guns and wanted to fight them in close combat?

Were those dog-like bastards bluffing them?

Sean had anticipated this long ago.

This wasn't Quill's first time doing such a thing; on the surface, he was still a gentle and refined doctor, after all.

You'd have to be a fool to believe an enemy's words.

"Get over here!" Sean grabbed Charles and pulled him behind himself, two golden rings instantly materializing between his palms. They were much smaller than before, and the formulas on the rings were hardly legible, but they were enough.

Because practically no bullets could reach him here.

Sean reacted quickly, but Kate reacted even faster.

The instant Burg and the others drew their guns, a beam of immense sunlight seemed to pierce through the roof, cascading down layer by layer from the top floor of the shopping mall and shining directly upon them.

Fifth-tier light magic spell—"Dust to Light".

At this moment, the entire first floor of the shopping mall was illuminated into a blinding expanse of white. Every guard was enveloped within it, transforming into mere shadows cast within the curtain of light. Before they could even manage to utter a scream, their dark silhouettes melted away bit by bit. Only a tiny fraction of police officers with fast reflexes squeezed off their triggers right before death, sending forth a burst of gunfire.

These bullets failed to pierce through this beam of light; a single solitary round flew toward Sean before melting away, only to be blocked by the golden ring upon his hand, bouncing straight against the wall and smearing into a clump of metallic paint.

Judging by the look of it, even if he hadn't blocked it, the bullets wouldn't have caused him any harm to begin with.

The disparity between ordinary police officers and a Tier Five wizard was simply too vast; Sean didn't even need to make a move.

Bathing in the light, Kate resembled a towering giant.

Quill didn't call for reinforcements again. He knew better than anyone that with Kate here, even if the entire police force of Old Sigel City were truly summoned over, they would only be marching to a futile death. Although lower-tier Witch Hunters were worth even less to them than a Smell Crow, there was no need to waste them all here.

"Will you do it yourself, or shall I help you?" Kate looked coldly at Quill.

In view of the fact that Quill had been fairly polite to Sean just moments ago, he also afforded Quill a chance to preserve his own dignity.

"Mister Light Servant, be careful."

"Mister Sean, you shouldn't celebrate too early either."

Quill didn't seem to want this opportunity. He cast an inscrutable smile at Sean, that look identical to the one from back when Sean had been taken away by the Vice Dean transformed by Elvily, and then he picked up his scalpel and charged toward Kate.

"Overestimating your own capabilities." Kate let out a huff.

He reached out and grabbed, actually pulling a long spear directly out of the light, and thrust it forward.

"Squelch."

The spear of light pierced straight through Quill's body.
