Background / History

Quill served as Chris Hendry's attending physician at Floris Hospital. When Sean visited Chris, Quill presented himself as a courteous, accommodating doctor, arranging an exception for Sean to see his friend despite Chris's poor condition 2.

After Chris's death, Quill confronted Sean in the morgue. He denied murder while openly alluding to Magic, then attempted to frame Sean's continued presence at the hospital as voluntary psychiatric treatment. He had already identified Sean as an Awakened One through Sean's novels and intended to keep him at Floris Hospital 3.

As Sean pursued the Spring of Enlightenment, Quill monitored his movements and prepared to have him killed if he successfully became a Wizard. He provided a Smell Crow to verify Sean's Magic after the awakening attempt 6.

Following the destruction of a Witch Hunter squad in the Black Berry Rainforest, Quill became increasingly frustrated by Sean's survival and evasion. He nevertheless anticipated that Sean would attend his public book signing, seeing Sean's courage and recklessness as predictable traits 21 22.

At the Old Sigel City signing, Quill exploited his authority over the police to fabricate a terrorist threat, evacuate the mall, and encircle Sean and Charles. Kate apparently killed him during the confrontation, but Quill had used a puppet substitute and survived 33 35 36.

Quill later ambushed Sean at his motel, revealing his identity as a Tier Two Puppet Technique practitioner. He severely injured Sean but failed to account for Sean's Forbidden Meditation-enhanced power.
