The Entrance to the Dragon Burial Mound

Bi Fan instinctively shielded his head. With an "ow," he crashed down onto the solid ground with a thud.

The impact jolted him fully awake, and he recalled that Xiao Xiao had rescued him earlier.

Unfortunately, his instinctive reaction to survive had made him hug her like some lecher, and she'd promptly slapped him flying over here.

"Ugh." He sighed silently to himself. It wasn't like he could blame himself. In that kind of situation, many movements were instinctive, made without any thought. But then again, he couldn't blame the young lady, either. She'd come to save him, and he'd repaid her kindness by trying to take advantage of her. He deserved that slap!

He quickly picked himself up, taking it all in stride. Seeing the gleaming marble floor, he realized he didn't seem to be in the cave outside anymore. He raised his head—and froze.

There were no towering, awe-inspiring dragon statues, nor any grand furnishings or decorations. There was only an empty hall, with several bronze pillars standing within it. On top of them rested enormous crystal spheres, each as big as a lantern, dazzling and glowing with golden light.

Apart from bathing the hall in brilliant light, these simple fixtures had little presence.

Bi Fan couldn't help staring in confusion. Was this really the Dragon Burial Mound? Why couldn't he see a single dragon's bones?

While he was wondering about this, Ling Xiaoxiao and Xuan Chen, who had thrown him inside, came in from outside. The door behind them creaked again, then closed with a heavy thud.

Before he could voice his doubts, Ling Xiaoxiao glared at him, looking thoroughly annoyed. "I went out of my way to save you, and what about you? What on earth were you thinking?"
