Uchiha Takeyasu stood spiritedly in the spacious Hokage's office, dressed in the Hokage's ceremonial robes. He gazed out at Konoha's beautiful scenery through the fan-shaped window, holding a cup of green tea and enjoying the summer breeze drifting in from outside, looking completely at ease.

"Another peaceful, leisurely day."

Hearing those words—so idle and bored that they sounded like needless complaining—the elegant woman seated behind Uchiha Takeyasu at the desk, furiously writing amid a mountain of documents, felt a vein bulge on her forehead. Her grip slipped, and she snapped her pen in half. At the crisp crack, the young Hokage's lips curled into a smile.

A moment later, Uzumaki Mito asked with a humorless smile, "Hokage-sama, you've been in office for three days, and you haven't signed a single official document or mission request. Isn't neglecting your duties going a bit too far?"

"Oh, has it already been three days? It doesn't really feel like anything's changed."

After a Hokage inauguration ceremony that was neither grand nor shabby, Uchiha Takeyasu's likeness was officially carved into Kage Rock, and he took up residence in the Hokage Building.

After learning about the Hokage's daily duties on his first day, he issued a single long-term, well-paying B-Rank Mission to capture the ninja causing trouble in the Land of Fire, then immediately became a hands-off boss.

Come on, Uchiha Takeyasu had no desire to look at all those miscellaneous chores and low- and mid-level missions. He dumped them all on Uzumaki Mito, calling it "delegating authority."

And since missions involving the affairs of the country or village, as well as A- and S-Rank missions, rarely came up, Uchiha Takeyasu was as carefree as a retired old man.

"These are the Hokage's duties. Even if the matters and affairs involved aren't important, they concern every aspect of Konoha and are the foundation of the village's healthy development. Please take them seriously, Hokage-sama. Don't leave everything to me, your chief secretary, whose job is to assist you!"

Still dressed in a white kimono, the lovely yet mature Uzumaki Mito faced a stack of documents that stood taller than she did. She couldn't help feeling overwhelmed.

At first, Uzumaki Mito had thought that Uchiha Takeyasu, who had no experience managing anything, would make a mess of things once he became Hokage, pushing through sweeping reforms according to his own whims. She hadn't expected all the work to land on her while he lazed around as if he had nothing to do.

She had come to supervise, not to toil herself ragged.

The two of them had practically switched roles. The worst part was, she wasn't even the Hokage!

"No, no, Chief Secretary Mito, that's not right."

Uchiha Takeyasu shook his head repeatedly and took a sip of the tea, which was bitter at first and sweet afterward. Only then did he reply, under the noblewoman's near-incandescent glare. "I'm still a novice, far from as experienced as you, Chief Secretary Mito."

"Besides, you review every document that comes in and every document that goes out. Doesn't that fulfill your wish to keep an eye on me?"

"If you don't keep a constant watch, this Naturally Evil Uchiha Brat might do something bad."

Looking at Uchiha Takeyasu, who wore the expression of someone who simply didn't care, Uzumaki Mito wanted to burn every document on the desk and dump the ashes over his infuriating face.

But a higher rank was enough to crush a lower one. Uzumaki Mito's chest heaved with anger, and her eyes glinted dangerously. "Hokage-sama, aren't you afraid I'll completely sideline you?"

"Why should I be afraid?"

Uchiha Takeyasu calmly poured Uzumaki Mito a cup of tea. His voice was unhurried yet firm, as if he were stating an undeniable truth.

"I'm the Hokage!"

Uzumaki Mito was instantly at a loss for words. As the princess of the Land of Whirlpools, the daughter of the Uzumaki Clan Head, and Hashirama Senju's wife, she understood all too well how important a title was. She couldn't find a suitable reason to argue back, and suddenly realized—she was being bullied at work!

In the end, Uzumaki Mito muttered, "You'll regret this!"

"Haha, don't get so worked up. Have some tea to calm down."

Uchiha Takeyasu leaned against the desk and handed Uzumaki Mito the cup. Two or three seconds later, the indignant noblewoman finally reached out and took it, then sipped from her bright red lips, still as alluring as any young woman's.

"If you can't handle it all by yourself, you can always find someone else to help."

Uchiha Takeyasu looked toward the Senju of the Forest's compound beside the Hokage Building, speaking with an ulterior meaning. "I haven't seen Moriki-san around lately. Has something happened? And Lady Minako has nothing else to do, so she can come help out. How can the chief secretary have no one working under her?"

Ever since the B-Rank Mission to capture rogue ninja had been issued, many Uchiha ninja had started leaving the village in groups to support their Hokage and take advantage of the mission's rewards, which nearly matched those of an A-Rank Mission, along with a free Katana. They swept their Sharingan across the battlefield, and their enemies fell in droves.

Before long, the rogue ninja who had been causing trouble throughout the Land of Fire in the aftermath of the war were all locked up in the Security Department's prison.

Some of the others were spies from other countries, and their identities were gradually exposed as well. The entire Land of Fire grew peaceful and stable at a pace visible to the naked eye.

The Uchiha clan members active throughout the Land of Fire were powerful and cold, handsome and magnificent. Unexpectedly, they earned quite a favorable reputation among the people.

With the halo of Hokage surrounding Uchiha Takeyasu, some Konoha Ninja began to see the Uchiha differently. They really did have reason to be arrogant, and now one of them was Hokage. What was wrong with being a little proud?

As the Land of Fire gradually grew peaceful and stable, Uchiha Takeyasu's Ascension Points continued to soar.

After hearing that Uchiha Takeyasu had become Hokage, Senju Moriki had thrown a tantrum and tried to gather people to storm the Uchiha Clan Compound and wipe out the Uchiha. His behavior had thoroughly disappointed Uzumaki Mito.

But he was still her child. All she could do was seal his Chakra and keep him in the compound until he came to his senses.

"As for Minako coming to help... I'm grateful for the offer, Hokage-sama."

Uzumaki Mito naturally had no reason to refuse the chance to bring one of her own people into the Hokage Building.

"Then I'll leave today's work to you, Chief Secretary Mito."

"There are still plenty of jutsu in the Scroll of Seals I haven't read. I'll be off. Bye-bye."

Uchiha Takeyasu vanished from the office in an instant, leaving Uzumaki Mito behind with a complicated, difficult-to-read expression. She understood one thing clearly.

Her Third Hokage-sama was still in the midst of a rapid rise in strength. In the face of absolute power, all petty tricks seemed laughable.

"Phew."

Uzumaki Mito rubbed her cheeks and got back to work.
