Zhao Bai led the Vodka Girls, Seele, and Bronya through a staged distraction while he infiltrated a factory alone, but the mission ended with injuries and a stern talk from Himeko. He then began finding ways to help his squad grow, leading Seele to the Xuanyuan Sword for a trial that brought out her second personality.

• Zhao Bai assigned Rosaliya, Liliya, and Seele to an infiltration mission and forgot to include Bronya, who joined the group despite feeling overlooked.
• Zhao Bai turned the cloaked spaceship into a stage, where Bronya hosted a showy fight that distracted the crowd while he infiltrated the factory.
• Rosaliya defeated Seele in the staged battle, then her singing knocked out Bronya and Seele as Zhao Bai returned from the mission.
• Zhao Bai brought Bronya and Seele to the medical bay, and Himeko later reprimanded him for letting students act alone before explaining she was meant to help improve his leadership.
• After considering Himeko’s advice, Zhao Bai decided his five-person team needed mental training and sought help from Theresa and Fu Hua.
• Zhao Bai took Seele to the lakeside to study Taixu Sword Qi and the Xuanyuan Sword, which welcomed her after sensing two distinct auras.
• Seele calmed herself by watching the lake, then lost consciousness, and Black Seele lunged at the Xuanyuan Sword.

After Otto revealed Zhao Bai’s origins and named him Schicksal’s successor, Zhao Bai took Bronya and their companions on a year-long journey. Their travels brought them from Saint Fontaine to Paris, where Zhao Bai and Bronya entered a bar as the protest truce ended.

• Zhao Bai learned from Otto that he had been created from a parallel-world consciousness as a weapon meant to kill Otto, and Otto gave him Schicksal’s authority before sealing himself away.
• Zhao Bai returned to the Hyperion, told Bronya about his origins, and chose to focus on their planned trip to Antarctica, and they approved a year of leave and left with their companions.
• Zhao Bai arrived in Saint Fontaine, lifted restrictions keeping residents indoors, and arranged a performance of The Nutcracker for Bronya.
• Zhao Bai funded Durandal after she lost her savings, then joined her and Bronya in clearing a subway hub where Durandal defeated a Lava Emperor that had transformed into a Crystalline Dragon.
• Zhao Bai and Bronya traveled to Paris despite the unrest, arriving at a deserted airport amid protests and barricades.
• As rain fell, Zhao Bai had Schicksal’s satellite light the dark district, then demonstrated the Taixu Divine Sword by freezing the rain and shaping it into a silver spear.
• Zhao Bai and Bronya crossed into the power supply area as their brief truce ended, then entered a bar where Zhao Bai recognized members of Schicksal’s three great families and a blond young man approached him.

Zhao Bai rejected the Apocalypse family’s attempt to bind him through marriage, then traveled through the Arctic and Antarctica with Bronya. After his grand proposal failed, Bronya told him to ask again when he returned, and they arrived at St. Freya Academy hand in hand.

• Zhao Bai rejected Carl’s proposal after beating the young heirs of Schicksal’s great families, then left the bar with Bronya.
• Zhao Bai and Bronya parachuted into the Arctic, shared hotpot and seal meat, and watched the aurora as Zhao Bai advanced in the Taixu Heart Sutra.
• Amber managed an icebreaker route through the Arctic while Rita and Durandal inspected Zhao Bai’s costly artificial moon project in Antarctica.
• Zhao Bai and Bronya boarded Amber’s icebreaker and continued south, with Zhao Bai promising Bronya a special Antarctic experience.
• Zhao Bai revealed a three-kilometer artificial moon he had built for Bronya and asked her to get engaged, but she rejected the proposal while kissing his cheek.
• Zhao Bai told Chopstick Changguang, Durandal, and Rita that Bronya had rejected him, then left the icebreaker with Bronya for St. Freya Academy.
• Bronya held Zhao Bai’s hand during the flight and said she would seriously consider forming a family with him if he asked again after returning.
