Background

Tang Hao lived in Holy Spirit Village as Tang San's outwardly cold and alcoholic father. When Tang San revealed his Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer Twin Martial Souls, Tang Hao became visibly emotional and embraced him for the first time. 2

Learning that Lin Qi possessed Innate Full Soul Power and had drawn Martial Soul Hall's interest, Tang Hao regarded him as a potential future threat to Tang San. He attempted to intervene, but Lin Qi's guardian Leng Qing defeated and severely injured him. 3 4

Tang Hao continued to secretly watch over Tang San, following him into the Soul Hunting Forest and observing his Tang Sect techniques and hidden weapons. 16 He eventually disclosed that he was the Clear Sky Douluo, explaining that he had concealed his identity so Tang San would not become dependent on him. 24

Personality

Tang Hao's decisions are largely driven by protecting Tang San and preserving the possibility of revenge against Martial Soul Hall. Even after being badly wounded, he follows Tang San into the Soul Hunting Forest because he fears Tang San may be endangered without his protection. 4 16

He is secretive about his identity, sect, retainers, and resources. This secrecy becomes a source of resentment for Tang San, who repeatedly learns that his father had withheld major parts of their family's background. 24 110

Leng Qing's repeated defeats fundamentally change Tang Hao's behavior. He initially retains his anger and pride, but eventually becomes afraid of death, avoids Leng Qing when possible, and fights cautiously because he believes his continued survival is necessary for Tang San and his revenge. 25 90 140

Tang Hao's concerns over Lin Qi begin when Tang San reports Lin Qi's Innate Full Soul Power and sword Martial Soul. His attempted intervention brings Leng Qing into his life and leaves him severely wounded. 3 4

After revealing his status as the Clear Sky Douluo, Tang Hao refuses to personally retaliate against Lin Qi. Instead, he encourages Tang San to seek strength through cultivation and suggests that he ask Master Meng to accept him as a disciple. 24 25

Pursuit by Leng Qing

Leng Qing repeatedly targets Tang Hao whenever he senses hostility toward Lin Qi. Tang Hao is beaten often enough that Leng Qing calls him his preferred opponent, while Tang Hao begins fleeing and hiding in remote locations to avoid him. 61 83 90

Clear Sky Sect Intervention

Desperate to support Tang San, Tang Hao returns to the Clear Sky Sect and persuades Tang Xiao and the elders to back his son. 131 132 He leads the sect's Titled Douluo into the Sunset Forest, where he uses the Great Sumeru Hammer and Exploding Ring against Leng Qing but is decisively defeated. 136 139

Tang Chen's Return

Tang Hao provides the Clear Sky Sect with information suggesting that Tang Chen, the missing founder of the sect, survives as the King of Slaughter City. 145 146 When Tang Chen regains consciousness, he recognizes Tang Hao immediately, and Tang Hao joins Tang San in supporting their family's renewed campaign against Lin Qi. 176 179
