Gold Dust can be drawn from the ground and shaped with Magnet Release. Its available quantity directly affects the scale of a user's techniques 9 11.

• Souya refines underground minerals into Gold Dust by channeling Chakra into the earth 9 49.
• He developed a method of compressing and sealing a large supply into a staff, allowing him to carry it rather than prepare all of it after a battle begins 9.
• Magnet Release: Gold Dust can also detect and mine gold, making it a source of revenue for Sunagakure 2 83.

Movement, Defense, and Attack

Gold Dust can flow as a wave or take solid shapes under the user's control.

• Movement: Souya forms golden clouds that carry him through the air 8 60.
• Defense: Thick walls withstand a Lightning Ball and a Great Fireball, though both attacks damage or mark the surface 12 40.
• Restraint: Ropes and arms bind targets; large vortices and waves drag enemies underground 8 20 22.
• Weapons: Souya forms spears, fists, and other constructs from condensed Gold Dust 18 23 59.
• Armor: Gold Dust armor protects Garaga without restricting his movement. Its magnetic force reduces friction beneath him, and incoming Gold Dust can repair damage to it 80 81.

Sealing and Sage Art

Souya combines Gold Dust with sealing runes to suppress or confine powerful targets.

• Rune-marked Gold Dust restrains Shukaku's body and Chakra 68.
• The Gold Dust Great Burial Layer Seal encloses Minato in a layered golden pyramid, but constructing it exhausts Souya's Chakra and uses up his prepared Gold Dust 54.
• Gold Dust needles bearing purple patterns form a spatial sealing network in Souya's Sage Art: Spatial Severance 109.
• Infused with Sage Chakra, Gold Dust turns purple-gold and gains sealing properties in Sage Art: Golden Prison Soul Dance 184.

Limits

• Without enough prepared Gold Dust, a Magnet Release user's large-scale techniques require time and Chakra to refine material from the ground 9.
• Powerful Lightning Release scatters less-refined Gold Dust, while intense Sage Art flames and Lava Release can melt it 12 52 181.
• Souya's large-scale techniques can severely deplete his Chakra, leaving him vulnerable afterward 23 54.

Story Role

• Souya first demonstrates a small Gold Dust snake while visiting Monk Bunpuku, then uses a Gold Dust rope to intercept a distress hawk during Sunagakure's invasion of Valley Hidden Village 4 8.
• At Valley Hidden Village, he floods the battlefield with Gold Dust before sealing it into a staff 9.
• Against Raiga Kurosuki, Souya's prepared cache of Gold Dust turns an apparent retreat into a trap. He destroys Raiga's lightning dragon, binds Raiga, and kills him with a golden spear 22 23.
• Souya later uses Gold Dust against Orochimaru, Shukaku, Minato, and the Masked Man, increasingly combining it with sealing techniques and Sage Art 36 68 54 184.
