Background / History

Ao Ye is the son of Ao Lie and a direct-descendant Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. During his early travels away from the Dragon Clan, he sought to broaden his horizons without a fixed destination. He holds the Dragon Clan in high regard and is knowledgeable about the Primordial World’s major powers and the Dragon Clan’s cultivation of the Way of Water. 35 47

He was badly injured after attempting to seize the Nine-Petaled Crimson Flame Lotus from Fierce Beasts. Lin Yan and Mo Xuan rescued him, and Lin Yan used the Primal Chaos Plate to purge the Sha Qi from Ao Ye’s body. Though initially reluctant to abandon the lotus, Ao Ye accepted that removing it would devastate the surrounding ecosystem; Lin Yan’s gift of a Lihuo Spirit Crystal helped settle the matter. 34 35

Ao Ye then joined Lin Yan and Mo Xuan as they traveled the Primordial World together. Their repeated battles forged a close friendship, with Ao Ye generally serving as the group’s frontline attacker. 35 36

After reaching the True Immortal realm, Ao Ye answered an urgent Dragon Clan summons when Northern Sea territory came under attack from the Northern Nether Ice Prison’s Fierce Beast forces. He later formed and commanded the Ye Character Camp, turning it into a prominent frontline unit through sustained combat. 74 87 88

Appearance

In his human form, Ao Ye appears as a handsome young man in golden robes or battle armor. He has small golden dragon horns on his forehead and carries himself with innate pride, though prolonged warfare leaves him visibly fatigued and scarred. 83 86

  • True form: A ten-zhang Five-Clawed Golden Dragon with dazzling golden scales and powerful five-clawed feet. 82
  • Dragon might: His increasingly pure golden radiance and imposing presence reflect his strengthened bloodline and body. 83
  • Battle gear: Wears golden armor, later fighting with a Fang Tian Hua Ji wrapped in golden dragon breath. 86 142
  • Distinctive traits: Golden dragon horns, a proud gaze, and a natural fondness for rare treasures. 83 88

Personality

Ao Ye is forthright, proud of his Dragon Clan heritage, and highly conscious of his name: “Ye” means abundant fire, brightness, splendor, and prominence. He is accustomed to the deference shown to top-tier divine beasts, but Lin Yan’s lack of fear interests rather than offends him. 34

He is impulsive when treasures are involved, initially risking his life for the Nine-Petaled Crimson Flame Lotus and later becoming visibly distressed when Lin Yan, Mo Xuan, and Kunpeng use supplies from the Ye Camp’s stores. However, he distinguishes genuine treasures from inferior items and can set personal greed aside for his friends and subordinates. 35 88 93

As commander of the Ye Character Camp, Ao Ye becomes notably more composed. Though he continues to bicker with Mo Xuan, he takes military responsibilities seriously, maintains camp affairs during his friends’ absence, and leads from the front in major engagements. 87 93 142
