Divine Revelation User, or Blasphemer?

"Hello, young healer."

The priest smiled and held out his hand. Gret raised his head slightly to study him. The priest looked to be about twenty-four or twenty-five, with clear blue eyes like the springs of the Spring Goddess. His pale blue silk robe and dark blue brocade belt, embroidered with three white daffodils, marked him as a third-level priest according to the original owner's memories.

His smile was gentle and warm. Even when facing Gret, dressed in a rough linen vest stained with blood, his expression did not change in the slightest.

"I am Noah Donald, servant of the Spring Goddess. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Gret reached out to shake his hand. Halfway through, he noticed the blood still on his own hand and, utterly embarrassed, hastily pulled it back. Priest Donald did not mind. Smiling, he watched Gret wash and dry his hand before extending his own again and shaking it.

"Hello, I'm Gret. Gret Nordmark. It's a pleasure to meet you."

As their hands met, Gret found Donald's hand smooth and delicate, with only a few small calluses where he held a pen. His own body's hand, by contrast, was hard and rough. Priest Donald seemed to notice as well. His gaze dipped briefly before rising again, his smile unchanged.

"I misunderstood you earlier. My apologies. And Knight LehmanKnight Lehman, you should apologize too."

Gret followed his gaze. The knight standing nearby remained stiff-faced and motionless. A rose entwined in thorns gleamed at the center of his breastplate. One hand, freed from its iron gauntlet, gripped a greatsword, while several round sapphires formed a straight line down the center of its scabbard.

Emmm... he wore plate armor; his breastplate bore a crest different from the temple's; and there were gems on his scabbard. Even temple knights could not all be equipped this well. His family was probably nobility.

Maybe his rank was even higher than Priest Donald's—or at least his combat level was higher, perhaps a fourth-level knight or something. No wonder he was so arrogant. Even when the priest told him to apologize, he could not be bothered to respond.

Gret's expression remained unchanged. Priest Donald's smile also stayed in place, but he raised his voice slightly and called again.

"Knight Lehman!"

Having been called out a second time, the knight could no longer ignore him. Knight Lehman's face remained grim, but he stepped forward and gave Gret a slight nod.

"My apologies."

"It's fine. What I was doing earlier really was easy to misunderstand." Gret smiled broadly.

I was already lucky enough, Gret thought. That knight had held back. He had not broken Gret's ribs, much less killed him on the spot. He had heard of less fortunate colleagues in the past, performing emergency tracheotomies on choking patients outside, only to be reported by bystanders who did not know what was happening and publicly handcuffed by the police...

Knight Lehman's attitude was far from pleasant, but Priest Donald did not care. Seeing that the two had cleared things up, he leisurely turned and gestured toward the main table.

"Hello, Mr. Nordmark. May I invite you to dinner? Your treatment just now was very enlightening, and there are many things I would like to discuss with you..."

As he spoke, his gaze shifted. After all the commotion, Gret's teammates, along with the freckled Priest Apprentice John and Captain Karen, who had only just managed to rise with the aid of a crutch, had all crowded out to watch. Priest Donald spotted the Young Priest at once and, with the same polite smile as before, extended a hand to him.

"And would this priest of the Temple of the God of War join us as well?"

The Young Priest froze.

He lowered his head and squeezed forward, standing before Priest Donald without knowing what to say. Priest Donald simply dragged him over, seating one on each side of himself at the main table. Gret sat to his left, and Priest Apprentice John to his right.

In comparison, Roman Knight's seat was actually below those of the healers.

The farmer's wife and several farm women hurriedly brought out dishes. The priest had brought his own tableware: silver plates, silver dishes, silver goblets, and a gem-studded silver salt cellar. Gret and John naturally had no such luxuries. Each had a clay bowl of mutton soup and a basket of dark bread before them—

That was all.

Their only special treatment was that the mutton soup actually contained bones with meat on them.

Gret did not feel embarrassed in the least and bent over his food, eating heartily. When he showed no embarrassment, Priest Donald recovered from his momentary surprise and smilingly had two silver goblets brought over, pouring each of them a cup of wine.

The wine was a vivid red and richly fragrant. Even though Gret had not drunk in his previous life, one glance told him it was good wine.

...Very good. The carriage, silk robes, silver bowls, and silver dishes had not appeared yet, but the wine already had?

Gret really wanted to snicker, but he managed to hold it in.

Roman Knight, seated below him, could not. The priest he was escorting had first disregarded his status to mingle with people beneath him, then forced him to apologize, and now had even seated those commoners above him. Once or twice was one thing, but again and again? This was intolerable!

He slammed a hand on the table and shot to his feet.

"My lord! Your status is noble. How can you sit at the same table as these lowborn commoners?"

The hall was instantly stunned. Gret paused, while little John across from him put down his bread, his face slowly flushing red. Priest Donald was briefly taken aback, but quickly returned to normal. Even as he refuted him, his tone remained as gentle as before.

"Don't say that. We are all healers, all servants of the gods."

"What kind of healer is he?" Roman Knight grew even more agitated. He rose from beside the table and looked down at Gret.

"He has not used a single healing spell. Besides, I have never seen this Priest Apprentice anywhere in the city!"

Gret opened his mouth to defend himself, then suddenly had no idea what to say.

He knew exactly what kind of "healer" he was. His medical skills were real, but the healing spells had fallen into his lap from nowhere, and the Divine Revelation... that was all something he had made up himself. Well, now someone was questioning him.

Besides, the original owner truly remembered that no priest simply appeared out of nowhere. Every one of them had to undergo long years of study, accumulating enough knowledge and devotion...

In fact, he did not even have time to defend himself. Roman Knight stepped forward, his armor clanging as his greatsword slid halfway from its sheath. Light flashed straight into Gret's eyes.

"Speak! Which god do you serve?"

"He is a Divine Revelation User of the Nature God!"

Several voices answered at once from beside the long table below the platform.

Gret's heart skipped a beat. He turned to look at the warriors in his party, wishing he could shove those words straight back into their mouths. But it was already too late. Roman Knight glanced down at him and curled his lips into a cold smile.

"A Divine Revelation User? A Divine Revelation User who cannot use healing spells? A Divine Revelation User who cannot even heal his own companions?"

Before his words had faded, he drew his sword with a ringing clang and pointed it at Captain Karen, who stood leaning on his teammates with his crutch.

"Prove your Divine Grace! Otherwise—you are a blasphemer!"
