Background / History

Hereditary Poison and the Otherworldly Deal

Dugu Yan and her grandfather suffer from poison inherited through their family’s Martial Souls. Their symptoms include numbness and stabbing pain that penetrate the bones during rainy weather. She initially distrusts Li Yifei’s claim that he can change their fate, but his knowledge of this closely guarded secret convinces her to hear him out 9.

Li Yifei selects her as his first teleportation target on Douluo Continent because Dugu Bo controls the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye and its medicinal treasures. He requests a safe arrival location and a Martial Soul awakening in exchange for helping the family. Dugu Yan accepts and persuades her doubtful grandfather, calling Li Yifei their “only hope” 9 10.

Li Yifei arrives in her bedroom in Sunset Forest. When Dugu Bo confronts him, she steps between them and later urges her grandfather to stop his ineffective pressure-and-poison test. With Li Yifei’s permission, she broadcasts his Martial Soul awakening to the chat group 10 11 12.
