Background / History

Born with the Six Eyes, Haru was treated by the Gojo Family as a “Divine Child.” He received an imperial title and was expected to help maintain the balance between humans and supernatural beings. He later became head of the family, which held a leading position among Heian-era Curse Users largely because of him 198 199 200.

Haru met Su Wu in Heian-kyō when their Six Eyes resonated, despite the expectation that only one pair could exist in an era. Su Wu introduced himself as Gojo Kiri, a relative from the future; Haru presented him to the family instead as a distant relative from the Great Tang and arranged for him to stay at the Gojo residence 198.

When Su Wu attacked Heian-kyō’s Curse Users and Onmyoji, Haru eventually challenged him. Their shared Limitless technique initially prevented either from landing a decisive blow. Su Wu then used Ama-no-Sakahoko to bypass Haru’s defense and stab him through the heart. Haru said he did not know Reverse Cursed Technique; Su Wu healed the wound and secured Haru’s agreement to a Binding Vow requiring him and the Gojo Family to work for Su Wu while Su Wu lived 203. Haru subsequently stood behind Su Wu at Abe no Seimei’s funeral, where Su Wu appeared as the family’s head 204.

Haru later joined Kyoto’s battle against Ryomen Sukuna. Although he had expected to die, Limitless kept Sukuna from killing him, while Haru could not overcome Sukuna’s recovery. Afterward, Haru carried the nobles’ peace terms to Sukuna and reported his acceptance 215 216 217.

Appearance

Haru is over thirty during the Heian-kyō events, though he appears much younger. He commonly carries a folding fan 199 203.

• White hair, eyebrows and eyelashes; blue Six Eyes; and snow-white skin 199.
• Often covers his eyes with cloth while continuing to perceive the energy around him 204 206 211.

Personality

Haru is outwardly gentle and composed, but takes pride in his strength and is drawn to unusual people and events. He recognizes Su Wu as a kindred spirit and protects his claimed identity, even while warning that he would intervene if Su Wu went too far 202 204 218. Though often detached from others’ troubles, he helps Zen’in Akira’s family after Akira’s death 217 218.

Abilities & Skills

Six Eyes

Haru’s Six Eyes give him exceptional perception of energy. They also made him a figure whom others repeatedly sought out for investigations 200 211.

• Can distinguish individuals by their flows of Cursed Energy or Spiritual Power, even with his eyes covered 211.
• Can assess observed energy and strength, but cannot see through bodies, identify bloodlines, or infer a concealed technique without sufficient information 201 202 204.
• Resonance with Su Wu’s Six Eyes lets them sense each other’s power, though looking too long causes discomfort 198 202.

Limitless

Haru uses the Gojo Family’s Limitless technique. He explains that combining it with the Six Eyes permits the precise Cursed Energy control needed to use it effectively 202.

• Its defense prevents ordinary attacks from reaching him; it initially leaves his fight with Su Wu at a stalemate 203.
• Sukuna cannot break through it during their Heian-kyō battle 216.
• Ama-no-Sakahoko interrupts the technique, allowing Su Wu to wound him 203.

Relationships

• Su Wu / Gojo Kiri — Fellow Six Eyes possessor whom Haru welcomes into the Gojo Family. After losing to him, Haru agrees to work for him under a Binding Vow 198 203.
• Zen’in Akira — Familiar rival whom Haru tentatively calls a friend. After Akira’s death, Haru looks after his surviving family 199 217.
• Ryomen Sukuna — Opponent in a battle neither can finish decisively; Haru later negotiates Kyoto’s peace terms with him 216 217.
