Its sect gate stood amid a thousand-mile mountain range where sunlight rarely reached the ground. Graveyards covered the peaks rather than palaces, while Yin wind, fog, deathly terrain, Spirit Monsters, and distorted vegetation made the surrounding region hazardous. 299

The sect's core territory was built around graveyards and dense Yin Energy. Its main peak contained an enormous graveyard, while a bone-built spirit hall served as a meeting place for its senior demonic cultivators. 87 354

The Mysterious Yin Gate's foundational art, the Taiyin Corpse Release Secret Script, follows two principal paths. 86

Taiyin cooperated with Blood Shadow to use the Blood God Parasite Great Method on lower-ranking Azure Cloud Sect disciples. The method could bypass Foundation Establishment scrutiny, but Taiyin feared Golden Core cultivators would detect it. 87

The conspiracy used parasitized elders, defectors, curses, and false authority to seize Azure Cloud Sect's defensive nexus and shut down communications. However, the methods that enabled this infiltration were associated with Blood Demon cultivation rather than the Mysterious Yin Gate's usual corpse-and-soul arts. 93 94 115

Struggle for the Enlightenment Stone

The Mysterious Yin Gate entered the Land of Fallen Spirit Transmutation alongside Azure Cloud Sect and allied forces, seeking the Enlightenment Stone. Its demonic cultivators later pursued Lin Chen when he attempted to leave the canyon carrying the treasure. 135 158

Blood Cultivators revealed that their larger plan was to slaughter Azure Cloud Sect's promising younger generation, provoke the Mysterious Yin Gate into attacking, and still preserve Qingyang's chance to reach Nascent Soul. 158

Taiyin eventually withdrew after Azure Cloud Sect secured the Enlightenment Stone, but vowed to eliminate Lin Chen in the future. 166

Undead Calamity and Lingnan War

The sect prepared ten major burial grounds and an enormous Corpse Tide while planting hidden hands in Azure Cloud Sect territory decades in advance. 237

As the war escalated, the Mysterious Yin Gate's corpse-and-ghost foundation manifested as a near sky-obscuring Undead Calamity. After its destruction and Qingyang's advancement to Nascent Soul, the sect's Golden Core leaders considered fleeing Lingnan, only to be trapped by the formation sealing the region. 313 333

Destruction of the Sect Gate

Azure Cloud Sect launched a sudden counterattack against the Mysterious Yin Gate. Qingyang's fire engulfed the Yin clouds over the sect gate, suppressing the demonic cultivators' geographical advantage and throwing the defenders into disarray. 348 355 356

During the final battle, Old Demon Taiyin appeared to fight Qingyang to the death. The Flying Gu Demon Cultivator then detonated the sect's Third Order Spirit Vein, creating a shockwave that consumed the main peak. Taiyin and Flying Gu self-detonated their Golden Cores, possessed Foundation Establishment cultivators, seized sect treasures, and escaped. 357

The Mysterious Yin Gate's mountain range subsequently collapsed into an abyss, burying cultivators, buildings, and treasures. Lin Chen later obtained and catalogued the sect's surviving legacy, including vast Spirit Stone reserves, Demonic Dao artifacts, spirit plants, pills, formations, talismans, materials, and cultivation methods. 359 378

Legacy

The most valuable recovered Mysterious Yin Gate inheritances were the Taiyin Corpse Release Secret Script and the Demon-Plundering Corpse Feather Secret Ritual. 378

Lin Chen considered the sect's methods valuable not only for their corpse refinement, but also for their research into souls and Spirit Roots.
