Arc 8The Investiture Calamity Begins
As the Investiture of the Gods approached, the sects maneuvered for influence while the Yin-Yang Lineage took in Yang Jian and Shen Gongbao. Nezha’s birth and resurrection brought new conflicts, while Jun Tian separated himself from the Heavenly Dao.
- Xuanyuan chose Zhuanxu as his successor, and after Zhuanxu and Di Ku ruled, Great Yu controlled the floods, forged nine cauldrons, and passed the throne to Boyi before Qi seized it.
- Haotian’s forces captured Yao Ji’s family, but Kong Xuan took Yang Jian as his disciple, and Yang Jian later freed Yao Ji from Peach Mountain with Great Yu’s axe.
- East King Duke advanced to the mid-stage Primordial Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm, then met Hongjun, who revealed the coming invasion and initiated the Investiture of the Gods.
- The Sages negotiated over the divine positions, and East King Duke agreed to help Tongtian protect the Jie Sect during the calamity.
- Jieyin and Zhunti gained Hongjun’s approval to leave the Mystic Gate, founded Buddhism, and began recruiting followers as Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao sought their destined masters.
- Zhunti restored the Nuwa Temple poem, prompting Nuwa to send spirits toward Chaoge, while King Zhou’s demand for beauties led to the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox possessing Su Daji.
- Kong Xuan defended Yang Jian against Haotian, and Zhunti ended their fight, and Yao Ji then settled on the Three Immortal Islands.
- Taiyi True Person took Nezha as his disciple, but Nezha killed Ao Bing, sacrificed himself to protect Chentang Pass, and was later revived in a lotus-root body whose dormant soul had devoured his original soul.
- Jun Tian emerged after East King Duke severed Hongjun’s link to the Heavenly Dao, while Nezha’s arrow killed Azure Cloud Boy and Shi Ji Niangniang captured Li Jing.
